Parent's Roles: Parent's Roles: I am not an expert, this is from the kids point of viewI am not an expert, this is from the kids point of view
Attend as many games as possible
View the game with team goals in mind
Attempt to relieve pressure, not increases it
Learn to watch the sport: Subjective vs Objective
Respect the decisions of officials
Respect other fans, coaches, and players (100 kids, take the spot light off).
Accept the results of the game; make no excuses
MODEL WHAT YOU WANT FROM YOUR KID: confidence & Poise
Don’t poison the water toward coach, the program, or the teammates
Don’t talk to coaches on a game day about a complaint
Be supportive and an encourager of the student/athlete, release them to the game and respect your CHILDS goals, roles, and achievements;
That means all success, are theirs, all their failures, are theirs.
SPORT IS THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO THIS!! NO BETTER PLACE TO TAKE RISKS. You don’t want you kid taking risks sexually, academically or socially
PARENTS ROLE
RED FLAGSRED FLAGS
Solve problems before the are problems: Not your role to smooth the bumpy rode, this whole experience should be perfect and fair. Example: kid gets in the car after practice, looking sad. “coach hates me and is mean”
Take credit for kids success
Coach them, after they know more about the game then you do. One VOICE
You suffer after losses just as much as the kid or more excited than they are after wins
PlayersPlayers’’ Roles RolesPlay the game for FUN
Work hard. Be positive. Have a good attitude.
Support their teammates and put them above yourself in all situations. “don’t let your buddies down”
Be accountable for their own actions
If they have any questions, ask the coach.
Know and follow school and team standards and values.
Challenge themselves as an athlete and a person.
Be an athlete of character
***Player conduct form.
