Ubuntu 15.10 Willy Werewolf Release Schedule

Finally after a lot of work MBuntu OS Y (Macbuntu Yosemite)transformation pack is ready for Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet. Wecould have made everything automated but in this way you guyswon't get how stuff gets done in Linux, so we kept everythingsemi-automatic and pretty much interactive. This pack containsthemes for GTK (supports: Unity, Gnome, Cinnamon, Mate, andXfce), two themes for Gnome Shell, one theme for Cinnamon, oneicon pack, cursors, and this time we dropped boot screensupport because there are some issues going on with bootscreen customization. Themes used in this pack contains someparts from other sources credit also goes to these guys(Cinnamon, Gnome Shell theme from Yosemite Shell, some partsfrom Zuki) and Jared from Ravefinity helped us for making themecompatibility and fixing bugs in themes, and some icons alsocollected from different sources[1], docky themes are Ambianceand Buyi-idock. By following these instructions you can changelook of your Ubuntu 15.04 to look like Mac. In previous packs weused LightDM webkit theme which looks quite similar to Mac OS Xlogin screen, this time we are offering again but you have to useit on your own risk because many users reported issues afterinstalling it.As you know guys we are doing Mac packs from quite sometimebecause such packs for Linux are almost stopped but we keptthis project on our to do list from 12.04, and this time we havereached to 15.04 with Mac transformation. 3: Slingscold (Alternative to Launchpad)

To install Slingscold Launcher (Launchpad) in Ubuntu/LinuxMint open Terminal (Press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy the followingcommands in the Terminal:


Terminal Commands:sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/apps

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install slingscold

After installation of docky, go to /usr/share/applications/directory and drag + drop the slingscold icon on docky.

4: Mutate Spotlight (Alternative to MacSpotlight)

Mutate alternative to OS-X spotlight created by Wei Qiang, itoffers pretty much same features like Spotlight or maybe betterthan Spotlight. It is a selection-based search system, whichcreates an index of all items and files on the system. It isdesigned to allow the user to quickly locate a wide variety ofitems on the computer, including documents, pictures, music,applications, and System Preferences. It also can run some Linuxterminal commands, open URLs in web browser, translate fromone language to other, and also allows you toshutdown/logout/restart computer. For more details check thispost.


Terminal Commands:sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/apps

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install mutate

Terminal Commands:sudo apt-get install docky


sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install mbuntu-y-docky-skins-v5

After installation you can open Mutate from Menu/Dash, useCTRL+D as shortcut to activate mutate.

5: Docky

Docky is best choice for this pack, it is lightweight and we areproviding this pack themes for docky.

First of all install docky with following command then installMac theme for docky:

Install themes for docky, enter following commands in terminal:


Terminal Command:sudo apt-get autoremove docky mbuntu-y-docky-skins-v5

Use these commands to remove docky themes from yoursystem:Enter following command to remove docky and docky themes:

Tip: To pin application to dock just open Application and right clickon app icon then select 'Pin to dock'.

6: Set themes and icons (Specially for Unity):

This time I made things easy for Unity desktop, you can simplyrun the following script to set everything automatically. Further ifyou want you can change your settings.Enter following commands (Run these commands two times):


Terminal Commands:cd && wget -O config.sh http://drive.noobslab.com/data/Mac-15.04/config.sh

chmod +x config.sh;./config.sh

Terminal Commands:cd && wget -O unconfig.sh http://drive.noobslab.com/data/Mac-15.04/unconfig.sh

chmod +x unconfig.sh;./unconfig.sh

Terminal Commands:cd && wget -O Mac.po http://drive.noobslab.com/data/Mac-15.04/change-name-on-

panel/mac.po

cd /usr/share/locale/en/LC_MESSAGES; sudo msgfmt -o unity.mo ~/Mac.po;rm~/Mac.po;cd

To Revert back to default settings, enter following commands:

8: Replace 'Ubuntu Desktop' text w ith 'Mac'on the Panel

Enter following commands to change 'Ubuntu Desktop' text onthe panel:

Revert back to 'Ubuntu Desktop' text, enter following commandsin the Terminal:

10: Apple Logo in Launcher

Enter following commands to install Apple Logo:

If you want back Ubuntu logo enter following commands interminal:


sudo mv launcher_bfb.png /usr/share/unity/icons/

Terminal Command:sudo apt-get install unity-tweak-tool

sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool

Terminal Command:sudo apt-get install libreoffice-style-sifr

11: Tw eak Tools to change Themes & Icons:

You can use these popular tools to change themes and icons inUbuntu, Also you can change other settings from these tweaktools. You can also install Ubuntu Tweak.

Enter following command to install tweak tools.

12: Install Monochrome icons for Libreoffice:

Human icons are default in LibreOffice which kind of look weirdwith this transformation pack, to make LibreOffice more elegantwith monochrome icons follow these instructions.

Enter following commands to install monochrome icons forlibreoffice.

After installation go to LibreOffice menu select "Tools" >"Options" > "LibreOffice" > "View" and select "Sifr" under "Iconsize and style". See following screenshots


13: (Optional) Mac fonts:

Last time I received request about Mac fonts, so this time I am


Terminal Commands:wget -O mac-fonts.zip http://drive.noobslab.com/data/Mac-15.04/macfonts.zip

sudo unzip mac-fonts.zip -d /usr/share/fonts; rm mac-fonts.zip

sudo fc-cache -f -v

including them with this pack. So here are fonts for you.

You can change fonts from Unity-Tweak-Tool, Gnome-Tweak-Toolor Ubuntu Tweak



sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install mbuntu-y-lightdm-v5

14: (Optional) Install MacBuntu theme forLightDM W ebkit Greeter:

Warning: Use this feature on your own risk, last time wereceived a lot feedback that it is making our system unusable.Please don't report any blank screen (If happens) issue afterinstalling it. BTW it works just fine for me, I can't guarantee youthat it will work for you. You have been warned.Enter following commands to install Mac LightDM-webkit theme:

After installation reboot PC.

If you want to revert back, You can get back LightDM default


Terminal Command:sudo apt-get remove mbuntu-y-lightdm-v5

look:Enter following command to remove LightDM theme:

After removal reboot your PC.That's it

Thanks you! I just did this last night on a machine I put together for my church. the mbuntu package. My only problem is that I can't pin Chrome to the dock. At one point, Had to redo getting Dockyto start at launch, but as of last night, it seems to be doing great. Will do a bit more with it tonight and tomorrowbefore I have turn it back over to my church on Wednesday

I have gotten the 'E-unable to locate mbuntu-y-ithemes and same for icons from the noobslab ppa as shown above. got the same cant locate for mbuntu-y-unity as welli am quite new to all things linux, just abt 10months totall,so copy paste and anything else to avoid errors of that level,but still get stuck if the easy wont workI got the other things to load and install quite well problem just with the mbuntu-y few thingsthanksjdP.S.i did fool around and tried mbuntu-y-ithemes-v4 and that was there, just not v5 or v6 i also tried.thanks i do not know if i need to try again or if v5 is pulled, not been around long enough to know these thingsjd

My computer is stuck at "Starting Light Display Manager... down..... " after a reboot. And I didn't use the webkit greeter. These tweaks have messed up my computer. I followed everything step by stepand watched the video. Now I have to reinstall Ubuntu

Umair a month agoAdmin > John@John There is no harm with other tweaks except webkit greeter. I don't know what happened to your Ubuntu. If youhad collected some log from console at that time ......... but you reinstalled and now I can't tell you what wasthe problem.
