OPTIONS .................................................................................................... •

In addition to the three current MBA concentrations—

Accounting, Human Resource Management, and Supply Chain

Systems—a general MBA will be added soon.

8 MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

The Accounting concentration within the MBA program

is designed to prepare students for successful careers

as Certified Public Accountants (CPAs). The program

combines strong development in broad business

disciplines with advanced accounting knowledge.

Accounting coursework builds on foundational learning to

help ensure students are qualified and prepared

for the CPA exam.

The MBA-Accounting program provides a balance of

advanced financial and managerial accounting concepts

while also addressing current international accounting

topics. The curriculum builds professional skills necessary

ACCOUNTING

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

The Accounting concentration offers accounting graduates the opportunity to enhance the breadth and depthof their accounting education as well as gain sufficient credit hours to take the CPA examination.

The Human Resource Management concentration is intended for students interested in pursuing a career in human resource management or in better understanding how to effectively develop and manage human resources. The program is recognized by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and prepares students for the SHRM assessment and certification exam.

for success including critical thinking, data analysis,

and communication skills. Case studies also provide

development of professional research skills to solve

accounting problems.

Student training is enhanced by teaching and mentoring

from accounting professors who are all actively licensed

CPAs and have the highest degrees in their fields. Our low

student-to-faculty ratio allows professors to be responsive

to the learning needs of individual students. Finally, our

professors bring professional experience to the classroom

and demonstrate the applicability of advanced accounting

concepts to professional practice.

HRM

ACCT

The Human Resource Management (HRM) concentration

prepares learners for the Human Resource Management

profession and related practices. Learning expectations

include understanding the concepts, applications, and

strategic importance of human resource management

and its contributions to performance. Learners will

be able to plan, manage, and revise the HRM function

in a professional domestic or global setting, while

demonstrating the appropriate responses to ethical,

social, and multicultural issues. Program delivery is

competency based and learner focused.

Depending upon qualification, learners are prepared for

either discipline professional certification or the national

student exit exam.

The curriculum is aligned with the Society for Human

Resource Management (SHRM) HR Curriculum

Guidelines. SHRM is the world’s largest association

devoted to HRM. Our national award-winning SHRM

student chapter grants learners opportunities for

leadership, networking, and engagement.

Supply chain management is the fastest growing MBA

major, globally. It involves the integration of logistics,

purchasing, and distribution with business operations

from raw materials to the end consumer. The increasingly

global economy, where the components of a finished

product may be manufactured in one part of the world

and assembled in another, has created a huge demand

for supply chain management operations and strategy

expertise in nearly every industry.

SUPPLY CHAIN SYSTEMS

The Supply Chain Systems concentration addresses the need for professional knowledge and skills relatingto supply chain management, transportation systems safety standards, procurement, and distribution.

As global operations continue to become more complex,

corporations and the consulting firms that service

them are moving quickly to hire people with supply

chain management expertise. But these experts are in

short supply. North Carolina Agricultural and Technical

State University’s MBA concentration in supply chain

management prepares students to fill the employment

gaps caused by the expanding business landscape and the

growing demand for these professionals. Our graduates

may work in sectors such as food production, technology,

consumer products, retailing, and health care.
