Luxury and Business: two inseparable worldsIn order to manage the complexities linked to the luxury sec-tor in a systematic and efficient way, there is a need for pro-fessionals who are adequately trained and capable of fulfilling key roles within luxury business management. Accademia del Lusso and Mod’Art International, two prestigious European Institutions, have joined forces in order to respond to this de-mand through the creation of the Luxury MBA Milan - Paris. The courseThe international level and trilingual approach of the Lux-ury MBA Milan-Paris gives students the essential skills and knowledge to be able to assume an executive role in luxury management anywhere in the world. Starting with a global vision of the luxury sector and moving onto an in-depth analy-sis of the two systems which dictate all the rules in the luxury market - France and Italy - the course leads students to un-derstand the complex meanings and mechanisms that govern luxury management, so that they are fully prepared to face the world of work as well-rounded and global professionals. A combination of theoretical lectures and practical experiences together with visits and seminars, all taught by current work-ing professionals, guarantees direct contact with the mana-gerial world of luxury throughout the course and ensures that students learn the best and most up-to-date methods and techniques straight from the people who use them on a day-to-day basis.

InternshipIn order to validate the MBA course, and in any case to ensure a comprehensive and beneficial training experience, students are required to complete a 6-month internship at a company within the luxury sector. The internship can take place in any country, and students can either find one for themselves or take advantage of the services offered by the careers office at Accademia del Lusso or Mod’Art International, who will pro-vide students with assistance in choosing a suitable internship opportunity. At the end of the internship, which forms part of the final assessment, students will have to present a positive evaluation of their work written by the company where they conducted the internship, and also prepare a report of the ex-perience which they will hand in together with the final thesis at the end of the course.

Course descriptionThe MBA Milan-Paris in Luxury Brand Management prepares students to fill executive positions within businesses of luxury all over the world. The exclusive partnership between Mod’Art International Paris and Accademia del Lusso Milan allows for a global yet in-depth vision of luxury management in two of the world’s most powerful influences within the luxury sector: Italy and France. By firstly exploring Made in Italy, and then Made in France, this unique combination of excellence gives students the tools for comparing and experiencing for themselves the mechanisms and excellences behind these major luxury authorities, so that by the end of the course they will have not only gained expert knowledge of the systems but also indispensable critical and analytical skills. This dual expertise, which may also form part of students’ final thesis, greatly increases their value on the job market and elevates them to a position of prestige when looking for employment in the luxury sector: not only in France or Italy but across the globe.

1ST TERM IN MILAN INCLUDES: Introduction to Fashion Districts & Luxury Brands; Italian Luxury Groups & their Marketing strategies; Management Organisation; Luxury Business development strategies; Creating a business; Intellectual Property Law and Counterfeits; Italian Trademarks; Consumer behaviour; Decoding the Market; Understanding the development of E-commerce; Sociology of Fashion & the Anthropology of Luxury; Press Relations & Event Management; Art & Management; Production & Collection; Smart Textiles; Luxury Visual Merchandising; and Professional Insertion including the study of Italian Conversation for Fashion: giving students the opportunity to discover a new ‘Fashion’ language and to understand basic vocabulary that will be useful in their careers.

2ND TERM IN PARIS INCLUDES: Analysis of the Fashion and Luxury Industry; International Groups and their capacity for Innovation; the use of theoretical tools in Strategic Analysis; Global Economy of Luxury Brands; History, Culture & Sociology of Fashion & Luxury; Accessories: Luxury Leather goods and Luxury Eyewear; Trends in the market of High Jewellery and Watch-making; Cosmetics and Perfume; Being Present on Social Networks; Distribution Network Management; The Role of Architecture in the International Image; and Professional Insertion including French as a foreign language, Italian classes and Workshops for CV and Internship preparation.

The internship, which is considered part of the study path, is aimed at solidifying students’ knowledge and skills and is essential experience for students to be fully prepared for the world of work once they finish the course. Teaching methods are innovative and varied, and include lectures, in which students acquire solid theoretical knowledge; practical workshops which allow students to consolidate their learning through a mix of hands-on activities and external visits to luxury businesses and brands; and self-study time, which is a fundamental part of postgraduate-level study in order to enhance learning and to develop independence and personal management skills. Students will also be guided in creating an attractive personal CV and presentation letter in preparation for their successful and immediate entry into the professional world.

How to applyTo apply you must fill in 2 application forms: one to Mod’Art International, and the other to Accademia del Lusso; and pay the enrolment fee. Upon acceptance by Accademia del Lusso and Mod’Art International, the applicant must then proceed with paying the rest of the tuition fees. Once payment is complete, the applicant is officially admitted to the course.Enrolment at Perpignan University will take place once the MBA course has begun in Milan, under the guidance of a Mod’Art International representative who will inform students of the relevant procedure.Perpignan University reserves the right, after the applicant has already been accepted by Accademia del Lusso and Mod’Art Internatio-nal, to accept or refuse applications for en-rolment. AccommodationIn Milan Students have the option of living in Accademia del Lusso’s affiliated universi-ty campus in Novedrate (CO), approximately 25km away from Milan (40 minutes by train). The campus boasts accommodation, classro-oms, dining areas, a large park and other re-creational spaces. Alternatively, Accademia del Lusso will help students find a suitable resi-dential hotel or student hostel in Milan during their stay.In Paris Mod’Art International will provide as-sistance in finding suitable accommodation for students in residences or apartments near the school.
