One subject at a timeTraditional MBA models involve several individual subjects being offered generally over a 12- week period. For a busy executive, this makes their learning susceptible to external factors such as unexpected work and personal issues that could occur during this time. The University of Bedfordshire MBA is offered as

one subject at a time. This means students need to focus on one subject for two months and upon completion, students move on to the next subject over the next two months. The fact that assignments are just two months away from the start of each subject will keep students continuously focused and motivated throughout the year.

Aims and Relevance The unit takes an integrated approach to critically assess the relationship between leadership, operations management, finance and information systems which is essential for adding value and achieving competitive advantage in contemporary organisations. The theme is ‘leadership’ with an emphasis on high performance work systems and the international management of innovation and change. Successful completion of the unit will give you a comprehensive and detailed overview of theory and practice and you will acquire a ‘toolkit’ that provides the potential for inspirational leadership and the effective management of organisational resources.

Operations Management addresses issues such as quality, location process layout, capacity management, and scheduling and inventory management. Business and information systems facilitate decision-making and effective management across all functions. You will develop an understanding of how changes in the business strategy, the business operations and the funding of these operations can impact on the reported financial statements, their cash flows and thus impact on both share price and the reported results of a company.

Strategic Human Resource Management and Enterprise Resource Management

Global Leadership and Operations Management

Organisational Innovation, Culture and Change Management

Decision Making, Ethics and Sustainability

2. You are required to critically evaluate a live project or a case study of a contemporary organisation considering the integration and effectiveness of pertinent topics relating to leadership, operations, information systems and their impact on the financial statements. You will present your analysis and findings as a Business Report of 3,600 words.

A random sample of students will be called for a viva voce examination to ensure authenticity.
