Band and Choir
The music department at Mayville State University has continued to grow and give students the opportunity to develop themselves.The department features the Concert Choir, Concert Band, and Jazz Ensemble. Many students participate in both band and choir.
Band and choir concerts throughout the year include:• Homecoming concert• Christmas concert• Mid-winter pops concert • Spring concert
A minor in Music is available and is compatible with many majors. (See back)
Scholarships
All students participating in concert band and/or concert choir receive scholarships. These scholarships are determined by the individual student’s grade point average. Scholarships range from $200 to $400, and students who participate in both band and choir receive scholarships for both performing groups.

Music Minor
A minor in music education is now available at Mayville State University! MSU had a long, rich tradition in the area of music education until the 1990s, and through the efforts of many, it’s back.
This minor has been designed to complement an elementary education major, but it could be compatible with majors such as business administration, fitness and wellness, or communication. Students pursuing the Music Education Minor must take EDUC 400A, MUSC 380, and MUSC 298.
