What Would you attempt for God, if you kneW that you could not fail?

Is that a great question, or what? Did you know that there

is a way to share your faith, in which you cannot fail? There

really is. It is an approach that involves a series of questions,

in order to determine where God is working. Then it involves

simply directing the person to God’s promises in the Bible,

letting them read it for themselves, and then letting God do

the convincing. Our job is to get out of the way and watch

God work.

Of all the “models” for learning to share our faith, that I have

learned, this is my favorite. On Sunday, May 2, the author of

Share Jesus without Fear, Bill Fay, will be at Brushy Creek.

Bill is a most interesting individual. He grew up with a silver

spoon in his mouth. His father was the owner of Bird’s Eye

frozen foods. But in his quest for more and more money and

power, Bill went through several failed marriages and eventu-

ally found himself on the wrong side of the law. Then God got

Bill’s attention and saved his soul.

You will find Bill Fay to be a prophet in demeanor. He lovingly

tells it like it is. Bill will be preaching on Sunday morning,

May 2, and then will be leading us in the Share Jesus

without Fear Seminar that night, from 5:00-6:45PM. I hope

everyone will come and receive training and a challenge to

share your faith. I promise, you will not be bored!

RESCUE MINISTRY

I can’t remember when I have looked forward to summer more than this year. Have you made any plans yet? Hey, as you begin setting aside time for family vacations and special outings, can I ask you to consider doing at least three out of four things?

Here are some ways you can make your summer one of the most rewarding and enjoyable summers you’ve ever had:

1. host a Backyard BiBle cluB. We will provide easy-to-use teaching material, all

the cookies and Kool-Aid you need, along with training sessions to prepare you and your workers for a successful week. All you need to do is recruit a handful of friends from church (preferably those who live nearest you) and your yard for one week. Typically the clubs meet for about a hour and a half to two hours daily. It is a great way to meet your neighbors and to reach children for Christ who might not otherwise ever get to attend church on a regular basis. I am personally hoping to co-sponsor one this year and hope you will as well.

2. have your neiGhBors over for a cook-out. Go ahead and do it. You know you’ve been thinking about it. Just love on the people around you this summer. When given the opportunity, invite them to church with you.

3. Go on a mission trip. The plane is filling fast for India, New York, Serbia and Ecuador, but it may not be too late. I promise you, you will be glad you did! Contact Angela today about availability.

4. have knee replacement surGery. Well, I know which three I would choose.

strinG camp! Now is the time to sign up for String Camp here at BCBC. Starting June 22, we’re offering violin, cello, and guitar classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for 8 weeks. These instructional classes are designed from beginner to advanced players. The Middle School student can get a head start for the new school year. Or parents can get a hands-on introduction to their child’s instrument. Some intermediate players might want to keep their fingers in shape. Maybe you haven’t played in a few years and want to start back.

The class ensemble size will be small enough for individual attention and instruction. Instrument rental is available. Cost $13 per lesson. Go to brushycreek.org today to sign up. Space is limited.

ROBBIE’S REPORTby RObbIE SOX, MUSIC MINISTER

to the ends of the earthI hope that all of you are

praying about what God

would have you do to

spread the gospel this year.

If you are looking for a

one-two week commitment,

we would love to have you lead a

Backyard Bible Club, or join one of our mission teams. This

year we have teams going to Serbia, ecuador, new York,

and india. The Serbia team is full, but the other trips are open

and we would love for you to be a part of one of these great

teams. For more information and to register for the Ecuador

team, please go to www.e3partners.org. You will want to look

for the June 11-19 trip to Azuay, Ecuador. This is a dental/

medical trip. For more information and to register for the NYC

trip, check out www.nycm.spreadtruth.com. You will want

to look at the Summer trip for July 18-24. There are a ton

of things to do in NYC. You can take part in the traditional

prayer stations or help with VBS. They also have teams that

lead basketball and soccer camps. NYC offers something for

everyone! Finally, we would love for you to prayerfully consider

being a part of our India trip. The travel dates for India are

Sept. 12-21. I hope that you remember two years ago, when

Finny Matthews from AIM ministries came and told us about

all that God was doing in India. Many of you committed to

going on a trip with him this coming Sept. I hope that you

are still planning on doing just that. We will hold a pastor’s

conference, a children’s camp, and a medical clinic. If you

are a pastor, love to work with children, or have a background

in medicine, this team could really use your help! To sign up

for this team, please contact me at [email protected].

We will have an informational meeting about this trip on May

16. I hope that you will find a way to be actively involved in

spreading the Good News of Christ!

8th Grade leadership retreatJames 4:14 says, “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” It seems that as soon as I welcome our new 6th graders into our program, I blink and they are moving up to High School. For over 6 years I have worked toward making this tran-sition smooth and effective. This year will be no exception with our 2nd annual 8th grade leadership retreat.

I believe that the freshman year in High School has the ability to mold and set the standard for a teenager’s High School career. This year can be very positive or extremely detrimental. This depends on 2 major factors: their friends, and their walk with the Lord. On May 14-16 I want to invite ALL 8th grade students to come to Asbury Hills Retreat Center for a weekend that will not only be fun, but life-changing. This leadership retreat will enable the students to build and strengthen friendships, and it will prayerfully strengthen their walk with the Lord. The weekend will have many adventures like a ropes coarse, creek hike, fishing, and special quests that help will help equip and prepare rising 9th graders for upcoming High School challenges. The cost is only $50 and the investment in each 8th grader is priceless! Register today at www.brushycreek.org!

While we reached over 800 kids in our community, a small number of Brushy Creek kids attended the clubs. We encourage parents to go to www.brushycreek.org to view a list of clubs, find one near you, contact the host and ask how you can help while your child attends the club. We are better together!

special needs ministry for kidsBrushy Creek is opening doors to help families affected by children with disabilities. We need volunteers to be a “buddy” for a special needs child and lovingly come along-side as they attend Sunday School, Children’s Church and Greenhouse activities.

“Buddy” sign-ups will be held each Sunday through May 16 in the breezeway following both worship services.

On Sunday, May 23 at 2:30pm, Mike Gates with Joni and Friends will provide training for those interested in being a “Buddy”. We will meet in the front room of the ARC. Childcare will be provided. RSVP at “Buddy” sign up tables or to Karen Cassell at the church office by May 16.
