Friends and Neighbors Of FM 1960 May-June 2019 PRESIDENTS MESSAGE What a wonderful April program! Petticoats and Parasols was an out- standing style show that took us through womens clothing through the last 100+ years. A big Thank You to Brenda Hannah for arranging this entertaining and fun event. I loved it. (See the collage of pictures in this newsletter.) Sharon Schumann and Lin Fish are Co-Chairs for our Spring Country Fare. Dont miss this luncheon with raffles, games, great food, and good conversation, all in comfortable clothing! This event will be our last FAN meeting until September and a great place to visit with your FAN friends before summer is upon us. Your Board will hand the baton to a brand new Board May 31 st . I have enjoyed being your President this year and have especially enjoyed get- ting to know more FAN members. My goal was for everyone to have FUN and I hope you have. Its been a great year for me. Thank you for your support and help. You made my year easy. A big thanks to the Board members who have done such a won- derful job this year. You are the best! THANK YOU! Sue Behnke President 2018-2019 FAN General Meetings FAN meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. (September thru April) Faithbridge Church, 18000 Stuebner Airline Social Hour begins at 9:30 a.m. Our next meeting will be September 3, 2019 April 30 is our Spring Luncheon - Country Fare at the Hilton Garden Inn, 7979 Willowchase Blvd. CHARITY NEWS At the April General meeting, ballots were handed out to members to elect the charity FAN will sponsor/support for 2019/2020. Four distinct charities were offered ranging from providing beds and bedding to low income families who may have children sleeping on floors or couches or with other family members; services to veterans, elderly and disa- bled in our community; assistance to families of children going through transplants; and autism awareness. FAN members found it difficult to choose as the numbers were very close upon counting the ballots. Sleep in Heavenly Peace was chosen as the main chari- ty; however, we are hopeful that enough money will be raised at our fund raiser in December whereby all four chari- ties will reap the benefits of the generosity of our members. The Board has set a goal for the FAN Charity Luncheon in December of $5,000 for our main charity. Anything we raise over this goal will be divided among the other three charities nominated. So lets really work to make a won- derful addition by raising a ton of money this year!!! Jennifer Banks, Chair 281-793-7962 [email protected]

May 2019 - Membership Report

FAN’S Annual Membership drive is going on now. The our fiscal year runs from June 1 to May 31, and our annual dues still remains only $25. A bargain considering all of the great activities FAN has to offer!!

So far this year’s membership is 100 members strong and we are just starting out! It has been a great help that the Activity Group Leaders passed out forms to each of their members as well as collecting checks from them for dues. Thank you so much, you ladies are awesome!

Our new 2nd Vice President of Membership for 2019-2020 is Kathleen Court. Kathleen can be reached at 713 385-7419 or [email protected]. During this transition period, please continue to send me your membership forms and dues. If you have any questions, please contact me.

I have really enjoyed serving FAN in this position and meeting so many amazing ladies.

Tracy Lalor, 2nd VP Membership

PUBLICITY

Two years ago, I was asked to be Publicity Chair. It has been fun bringing publicity for FAN to life. All the creative ideas sparked new interest in FAN … and ... I’ve met so many wonderful people!!

Have a FANtastic Summer and see you in Septem-ber.

Myrle Kozlowski, 2017-2019 Publicity Chair

1ST THURSDAY LUNCH BUNCH We had a delicious pot luck lunch on April 4 at Patsy Justice’s home. We enjoyed see-ing all the spring and Easter themed serving pieces.

We’d like to invite anyone who enjoys good food and good conversation to join us.

We meet at members’ homes on the 1st Thursday starting at noon. The hostess pro-vides dessert and drinks. Everyone else brings a non-sweet dish. The hostess can be as formal or informal as she wants. We just enjoy the fellowship as much as the food!

Please consider joining us!

Contact Kathy Michalski at [email protected].

FAN Nature Walkers

We will continue our walks thru the spring and summer, weather permitting.

We meet at any of the Precinct 4 Parks and walk at a comfortable pace anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes in the morning or early afternoon. Evening walks are also an op-tion. There is no set schedule because walks are participant and weather dependent.

For a list of the Precinct 4 parks, go to https://www.hcp4.net/Community/Parks.

If you want to be included on the email list, please send your email address to [email protected] and I will be happy to invite you to our walks.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends, connect with old friends, get some exercise and have interesting conversations. See you on the nature trails.

I enjoyed serving as your Treasurer.

Visitors are welcome … we will even help you learn the game in hopes you may want to join FAN. Eileen Kelly, Activity Leader 281-516-1535 - [email protected]

Hi FAN ladies,

Above is a photo of the goodie bags that are be-ing handed out this Easter Sunday at the Loaves & Fishes soup kitchen downtown, hear the I-59 homeless encampment. Your do-nations joined with those collected by the St. Ig-natius youth group and outreach program have enabled us to hand out 300 such bags! They contain multiple snacks, toiletries, things that are hard to come by when one is living on the street.

Thank you again for your generosity! Wishing all of you Easter blessings.
