MAY FESTIVAL 2018 is is the twenty third annual celebration of music within the context of worship to be held here at St Stephen’s. We welcome many music lovers and many performers who join with us for these three glorious days. Our special guests this year include Peter King, recently retired Organist at Bath Abbey, who will be giving the Whitlock organ recital. We welcome David Price Organist and Master of the Choristers of Portsmouth Cathedral who is giving the lecture. We welcome back Winchester Cathedral Choir directed by Andrew Lumsden who will be singing the Saturday Festival Evensong, On Monday the choir of Christchurch Priory directed by Simon Earl will be singing Choral Evensong. St Stephen’s Choir will be joined by our neighbours Richmond Hill St Andrew’s URC Choir for the Saturday Mass. On Sunday morning the St Stephen’s Choir, festival singers with soloists and chamber orchestra will be singing liturgically the Mozart Coronation Mass. On Sunday evening we are delighted to welcome back Durlston Court School Choir who will be joining our own choir and festival singers, directed by Rob Dishington in a programme of orchestral and choral music with a British/ American theme. On Monday the lunchtime recital is given by our friends the Parry Ensemble playing a Max Bruch Quintet. e final event on Monday evening includes a performance of Britten’s Ceremony of Carols accompanied by harp. BECOME A PATRONA minimum donation of £25 enables you to be a patron of the Festival with your name included in the Festival Programme, if you apply before 15th March. All patrons will receive a free copy of the programme. (If you are a UK taxpayer your donation as a patron can be significantly increased by utilising “Gift Aid”).

ST STEPHEN’S MUSIC FOUNDATIONThe foundation is being established to provide funds for choral scholars or professional singers to maintain the musical tradition at St Stephen’s in future years. Please add on a donation for this project when booking.

SOCIAL EVENTSPlease book in advance to join us for the Festival Lunch.This is a three course set menu roast lunch. A vegetarian alternative is available if requested in advance. (Coffee available for an extra £2.50)It is helpful if you book for the Saturday Festival Tea, a marvellous spread of sandwiches and cakes, (there will be a number of tickets available on the door.)On Monday the tea after Evensong is open to all. During the weekend refreshments will be available at the back of the church.
