required to see this project to completion. Glory be to God!

  • THE BEACON APRIL 2014

    April 6, 2014

  • A Day of Celebration!

  • Look at what has happened so far!

Our 2014 goal to bring in 250 guests continues!

The number is now 133! Challenge yourself to speak the love of Jesus to others and invite them to experience that love here at Baughman Methodist Church.

    The countdown continues!

    GOD IS GOOD!

There are many good reasons to give our money the way God teaches. We give to be faithful - it's what God teaches. We give to express gratitude- we've been blessed so we respond with gratitude. We give to help others. Yet another good reason to give is that "It's in our own best interest."

Where else are you going to experience a consistent source of hope and en-couragement but the church?

Where else are you going to hear the truth (both good and bad) about yourself but the church?

Where else can your life be changed, your heart uplifted, your problems prayed for, and your sins conquered but the church?

Simply put, it is in your own best interest to invest in your church, for as your church gets stronger and healthier so will you and your family!

    -Pastor Win Green

Can you feel it? Baughman UMC is getting stronger with each passing week. Not only is our worship attendance and Sunday School growing... not only is our giving better... not only is our music ministry, men's ministry, and youth ministry healthier, but even better is our spiritual confidence - the good people of Baughman are getting more and more spirit-ually confident. You know your Bible better. You understand the Gospel more fully. You know word for word what the mission of the church is - "To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world." The men and women of Baughman UMC are be-coming more and more confident in their relationship with Jesus Christ, and it is a beauti-ful thing to see!

To paraphrase what Norman Vincent Peale once said, 'A church that flows with a spirit of self confidence finds that people and opportunities flow toward them. People and success are drawn toward them.'

Yes, more and more people are going to be drawn to Baughman UMC because more and more of you are going to develop enough spiritual confidence to actually lead others to the life and health of Jesus Christ.

    BAUGHMAN IS GETTING STRONGER!

  • Just a reminder that the Childrens Mission Project will be during the

month of May and we will be asking for donations of items for health kits for Mission Central. The list of items was printed in the April Beacon, and a hand-out will be sent home for parents detailing the specific items needed. You can also check the list on this link, http://www.missioncentral.org/files/Health%20Kit%20Instructions.pdf

We will collect donations beginning May 4th through May 25th. May 17 & 18 the children will be coming through the congregation with cans to collect change (and paper money will also be gratefully accepted) toward items for the health kits. Please donate generously!

    Thank you for your support!

  • We are looking into the possibility of a church-wide golf outing this summer. The plan is for a Saturday afternoon event starting at around 1:00pm and con-cluding with a dinner or picnic at a venue to be determined. At this time it looks like July or August will be the months. This outing is open to men, women and children who golf. Members could also bring a guest in that this could help usher in possible new church attendees.

We need to find out the level of interest before we try to secure a course.

If you would be interested, we ask that you get in touch with Rex King at [email protected] , or call 717-343-2660.

Again this is an inquiry into level of interest and feasibility.

    Thank you!

  • Thank you to everyone who lifted my sister, Melanie, in prayer. All of her lymph nodes were clear after the testing! I would like to use this as a lesson to all women. Melanie had no family history and no risk factors. She was saved by her yearly mammogram. Please be vigilant about your own health, no matter what the medical community says. -Melinda Rhoads-Miller

We wish to thank everyone at Baughman for their many prayers, visits, flowers and cards to our mother, Grace Troxell. She enjoyed reading the cards over and over. She was very appreciative of our church members that visited to offer communion. From her daughters, Pat and Chris To my Baughman Church Family, Thanks for the cards, gifts and particularly the prayers during my recent surgery and hospital stay. Special thanks to Pastor Green for his visits, prayers and his listening skills. Blessings to All. -Deb Pertschi

  • Baughman United Methodist Church

    228 Bridge Street

    New Cumberland, PA 17070

Last summer (2013), a gentleman showed up at Baughman UMC on crutches... he had only one leg. Ronald Stufflet was new in town. He lived next door to the church... above the Old Fashioned Heat office. He worked in Harrisburg selling flowers, and doing carpentry and odd jobs around the East & West Shores. He came to Baughman UMC needing two things. First, he needed some friends, as he was new in town. In the 10 months that he's worshipped with us, Ronald has developed good friendships. The people of Baughman have welcomed Ronald with warm smiles and firm handshakes. Several people have asked Ronald directly how Baughman UMC can help him, and he has appreciated the concern. The second thing Ronald needed was a closer personal relationship with Jesus, and Ronald has experienced this here at Baughman through worship, prayers, studies and service projects. Ronald has grown spirit-ually... which is what Baughman UMC is all about. Our mission here at Baughman is simple - "To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the trans-formation of the world!" Together, we have helped Ronald Stufflet to grow closer to God, which is what our ministry is all about!

DONT FORGET ABOUT COMMUNITY DAY, MAY 3RD!

This is a great outreach opportunity for our church!

The event goes from 9:00am - 2:00pm. Volunteers are still needed.

Please contact Lisa Kepes at [email protected] if you are able to help!
