Under the consecrated species of bread and wine Christ himself, living and glorious, is present in a true, real, and substantial manner: his Body and his Blood, with his soul and his divinity (cf. Council of Trent: DS 1640; 1651).

The Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ is also known as the

Feast of Corpus Christi, which translates from Latin

to "Body of Christ."

The feast calls our attention to the Eucharist. The

opening prayer at Mass calls our attention to Jesus'

suffering and death and our worship of Him,

especially in the Eucharist.

At every Mass our attention is called to the Eucharist

and the Real Presence of Christ in it.

The doctrine of the Real Presence asserts that in the

Holy Eucharist, Jesus is literally and wholly present—

body and blood, soul and divinity—under the

appearances of bread and wine. (1 Cor. 10:16–17,

11:23–29; John 6:32–71).

Catechism of the Catholic Church [CCC] teaches:

CCC1406 Jesus said: "I am the living bread that came

down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he

will live for ever; . . . he who eats my flesh and drinks

my blood has eternal life and .. abides in me, and I in

him" (Jn 6:51, 54, 56).

CCC1407 The Eucharist is the heart and the summit

of the Church's life, for in it Christ associates his

Church and all her members with his sacrifice of

praise and thanksgiving offered once for all on the

cross to his Father; by this sacrifice he pours out the

graces of salvation on his Body which is the Church.

CCC1412 The essential signs of the Eucharistic

sacrament are wheat bread and grape wine, on which

the blessing of the Holy Spirit is invoked and the

priest pronounces the words of consecration spoken

by Jesus during the Last Supper: "This is my body

which will be given up for you. . . . This is the cup of

my blood. . . ."

CCC1413 By the consecration the transubstantiation

of the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of

Christ is brought about. Under the consecrated

species of bread and wine Christ himself, living and

glorious, is present in a true, real, and substantial

manner: his Body and his Blood, with his soul and his

divinity (cf. Council of Trent: DS 1640; 1651).

Project Connect Launches

Parish Websites

Responding to a society that spends countless hours

online, the Archdiocese of Toronto has launched

Project Connect.

Project Connect, funded by the Family of Faith

campaign, is the archdiocese’s response to this

reality of online world.

The Archdiocese, through the Family of Faith

Campaign, has initiated a re-structuring of their

communications, and are providing the web-site

design and management through their offices.

Project Connect consists of a new main

archdiocesan website (www.archtoronto.org)

connected to individual parish websites. The main

archdiocesan site went live in February, 2015.

In February 2015, there are 20 pilot parishes in

production. Since September 2015 at least one new

parish site has been launched every week.

Approximately 100 sites are now up and running

and we are proud to be part of this archdiocesan

initiative!

The Family of Faith campaign has allocated $1.5

million to Project Connect. $246,000 has been used

to purchase the hardware and content management

system, and $100,000 will be spent annually over

10 years for maintenance and support. The new

system has many important features and functions.

Today, Feast of Corpus Christi we are

proud to announce that we have a new

official parish website:

www. corpuschristiTO.archtoronto.org

Visit us to connect! Thank you for your continuous generosity.

Today is ShareLife Sunday our parish goal is: $47,000.00 Working wonders for people in our homes and parishes… In 2012, Nadia was brought to Street Haven’s emergency shelter by the police. She was an immigrant from India and had been locked in a garage by her husband and mother-in-law for two years, rarely able to visit the two children. Upon her arrival at Street Haven, Nadia thrived. She slowly built trust with the counselors, participated in household responsibilities, and loved looking after the gardens. Her counselor set Nadia up with a lawyer and after a year of legal consultations, she received custody of her two children. Street Haven helped them find housing and Nadia and her children now live in a beautiful, safe home where they have started a new chapter in their lives.

Thank you for your generosity. You can work wonders!

The day before his death on the Cross, Christ instituted the Eucharist in the Upper Room. He also offered bread and wine, which "in his sacred hands" (Roman Canon) became his Body and his Blood, offered in sacrifice. Thus he fulfilled the prophecy of the old covenant linked to Melchizedek's sacrificial offering. For this very reason—the Letter to the Hebrews recalls—"he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him, being designated by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek" (5:7-10) O Sacrament Most Holy O Sacrament Divine All Praise and All Thanksgiving, Be every moment Thine!
