Mayor Killion Visits Carson
School
Mayor Jack Killion came to visit Second Grade students at Carson Elementary School. The students have been learning about local government during their Social Studies unit and were able to ask the mayor questions about his job. The Carson Second Grade citizens came up with very in-sightful questions and had a won-derful time talking and interact-ing with Mayor Killion.

Delair Tech Club took a field trip to 96.5 TDY radio and CBS3 Television in Philadelphia. Students
were able to see state-of-the-art media technology in action. They toured studios, control rooms, tele-
vision sets, and even got to go live on the air!
Special thanks to TDY program director Bobby Smith, and CBS3's Steve Butler for taking the time
out of their busy schedules to show us around their stations.

PARCC
By: Angelica Le, Eduardo Morales, & Alejandro Roberts
This year, in the middle of spring, we will take the PARCC test. PARCC stands for Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers. The main focus of the test is to see your academic achieve-ment, student achievement, and preparedness for college careers. The PARCC test starts on April 30th, 2018. We will only test on Language Arts and Math. We will be taking Language Arts first.
This year, some of the students made posters about the PARCC. It had the students name, goal, road, and avenue or street. Also, a hash tag was added to the poster, for example, #RockTheParcc or #HighScore. The students were motivated and felt excited to work on their poster for PARCC testing. It helped feel confident in taking the test.
There are many ways to prepare for the PARCC test. One way is to go to sleep at a reasonable time like 9:00 or 9:30 PM. Don’t stay up until midnight playing Fortnight, or any game in particular. Another reason is try to have a healthy breakfast to start your day. Study both subjects for the PARCC. Another suggestion on how you can dominate the PARCC is by answering the questions you can answer, instead of wasting all your time on one question you don’t understand. There are many tools to help you test online. These tools include a ruler, a protractor, and the answer elimi-nator for math. For Language Arts, you can use notepad, eliminator, mag-nify glass, and line reader.
In conclusion, PARCC is very important. Please make sure you get a good night’s sleep and also have a good breakfast. Make sure you are prepared with a pencil and a positive attitude. Also make sure you are on time so you don't have to come back and take the test again on a different
day. Just try your best and BELIEVE!

PHS Indians News
Congratulations Mr. Klimek Please join us in congratulating PHS Girls Soccer Coach and Physical Education Teacher Mark Klimek on his induction to the South Jersey Soc-cer Hall of Fame on April 29th. His hard work and dedication to Pennsauken have been nothing short of invaluable to all who have had the honor to call him “coach.” The following is from the South Jersey Hall of Fame Program: Mark Klimek played his high school
soccer at Pennsauken where he played two years of varsity soc-cer and earned 2nd team All-Conference honors. He was named a captain as a senior. From there he moved on to Ursinus College where he played four years of college soccer. Mark was a two time MVP and Captain for Ursinus. After finishing his playing days, he moved back home to his alma mater and began a long coaching career at Pennsauken High School with the girls soccer program. He began with four years as the Freshman/JV coach and then was promoted to four years as the varsity assistant. Eventually he would take over the girls varsity program where he has been for the last 18 years. Marked looked to revive a struggling program and part of that was his involvement with the youth program in Pennsauken. He coached the first girls travel team in the town and spent four years with the Pennsauken Flames. In all he has spent over 25 years as a coach at Pennsauken with the girls soccer program. In addition, he has coached several other programs in the school including leading the girls and boys bowling teams to great suc-cess. He won a State Championship and several South Jersey Titles as their bowling coach. In addition he was named the New Jersey Bowling Coach of the Year in 2017.
