PRESIDENT’S BLOG:-
The first of the winter terms at Longburn is about to finish. It is great to see everyone continue with
their training and supporting us during the colder terms. This term has seen us running 2 class
times, which is something we haven’t done for a while. Any feed back on how you found the times
and the classes would be appreciated.
I would like to thank our instructors for this term, all who volunteer their time to help you and your
dogs. I would also like to congratulate members of the club who have done well at Obedience,
Breed and Rally O competitions or have passed a CGC assessment.
Congratulations to all those students who passed their class this term. And to those who didn't quite
make it, don't despair, look at how far you and your dog have come this term and don't forget any
time spent working with and training your dog is time well spent.
Next term starts on the 13th June and continues at our Longburn Grounds. Next term may see us
running 2 class times again. Times will be advised and dependent on number of enrolments. It is
always helpful if you pre-enrol so that we have an idea of numbers. You can do this either by going
to www.dogtraining.org.nz or by emailing [email protected].
This week we start a Wine Fundraising, an information sheet & order form as enclosed with the
newsletter and I hope you will support us in this venture.
I trust you have all had an enjoyable term of training and hope to see many of you back next term.
As winter is definitely feeling like it has hit us please remember to stay visible, safe and warm.
Remember training should be fun. Keep up the good work.
Don’t forget to join us on our Face Book page.

Committee profile:
Ashleigh McNae & Nathan Morrison This is Nathan’s 2nd year on the Committee and
this year is joined by partner Ashleigh.
Nathan has being around the Club & helping out
since he was about 9 years old when he helped make
toastie sandwichs at our Championship Shows.
Both he & Ashleigh started coming to Club full time
when they got their first dog Basil, who has since
been joined by Bandit.
Nathan & Basil have started competing in Rally-O shows and both enjoy the challenge it brings. Instructor Profile:
Owen Morrison
Owen lives with Herbie, his 5 year old
Dachshund/Corgi cross he adopted from the SPCA at
the age of 1, and wife Nerolie & her dog Christian.
He has been involved with the Tararua Club for many
years but only since adopting Herbie has he become
involved as a Committee member and Instructor.
Owen and Herbie have competed in Obedience
competition but in the last year or so have moved to
training and competing in Rally-O. Both he & Herbie
enjoy Rally-O and enjoy learning new exercises even
when they are a bit of a challenge.
I recently attended a car accident outside my workplace, which
involved an unrestrained dog inside the car.
The dog ended up trapped in the driver’s foot well beside the
driver’s legs.
Fortunately the driver appeared to have minor injuries and there
were no other vehicles involved but unfortunately the dog did not
survive the accident.
