Message from our President Hello Everyone,
We certainly had a strange Spring so far with the weather. Hard to believe it is May, and it started off with snow in some parts of the GTA, but now it looks like the beautiful weather is here to stay.
This is the time of year our Executive Team are working hard on next years Season. If you have been to any interesting photo displays or exhibits while out exploring the City, and think they could be something of interest to the Club for next years Program do pass the info onto John Wallace.
It is also time when some members step down from their positions from the Executive and we are looking for new members interested in helping the Club run. We meet once a month and depending upon the Position there is also some other dates and time spent with each section.
Members can also join Committees to help ease the load of each area. As the saying goes more hands help get the job done faster. If you are inter-ested in helping on the Executive please contact either Maureen Littlewood or John Wallace and we can help you find an area that interests you.
Take a look at the contest winners from our last contest of the season, there were some great images submitted as usual.
Hope everyone had a great long weekend and enjoy reading all the great info inside the newsletter.
Unless otherwise specified in the Program, we meet at Beach United Church,
140 Wineva Ave., Toronto. Meetings start at 7:00 p.m. and run to 9:30 p.m.

Program Update—2015/2016 Schedule
Check out the full line up on the website, or you can view each month’s schedule from the calen-dar. Send any speaker suggestions to John Wallace, our Program Coordinator.
Request for all members: We always thank our guest speakers by presenting them with a thank you card with a photo attached to the cover. If you have any photos which you would be proud to represent the club, please bring the printed image (4X6) to the next club meeting.
The following is the line up for the next few meetings:
Critique Sessions Our critique sessions at the beginning of our club meetings have become a hit with noticeably higher attendance. We have quite the waiting list and we encourage all our members to submit as many times as you wish. Please keep in mind, you are not being judged. Rather, the critiques are put in place to lend you a helping hand with any images you want to get feedback on. Please submit your images to Mark Kremblewski or Sarah Boutilier ([email protected] or [email protected]) prior to each meeting.
June 2 – Compelled to Connect your Camera, Presented by David Barnard Explore with David the advancements, and creative advantages that the latest technology in cameras has to offer. Learn how wi-fi features offered in current Mirrorless and DSLR cameras can benefit your shooting, organization, editing, storage, and most importantly workflow. David has worked in photography for nearly 3 decades, covering everything from professional sports, to food, to weddings, every step of the way embracing and using the latest.
June 16 – End of Season BBQ—stay tuned for more details on location and time
We have been holding Tech sessions at the beginning of our meetings over the last few months, and they have been a great success — thanks for fellow members for sharing your skills, expertise and experiences. We have one more lined up this season: June 2: Marley Adams will demonstrate how to do composing and layering using her iPad. Thanks to Selby Shanly for organizing these information sessions!

We are looking for members to step up and become part of the Executive Team that help with the running the club. Some members have spent a few years in their current positions and are looking to mentor someone to continue with the great program we have.
We meet once a month, along with sharing emails in between on key decisions. Depending on the program, there will also be extra time needed for planning and prepping throughout the year.
Many positions can use a few pairs of hands to help out with the many aspects of each area. The more help we have the easier it is to get the task done.
Open Position for next season, Newsletter Editor:
Deborah Ryan will be stepping down next season, and we are looking for someone to take on the monthly communication. This is a great opportunity to be part of the exec team and help shape the content which goes out to the club on a monthly basis.
If you are interested in this position, or any others, please contact Maureen Littlewood at [email protected] to let her know that you would like to learn more about being part of the execu-tive. We are a fun team to work with, and help shape your club!
Thank you for considering!

FALL ANNUAL TRIP When: Fri. Oct. 7th - Mon. Oct. 10th, 2016 Thanksgiving Weekend Where: Haliburton Forest Wildlife Reserve Description: In order to book for this trip we do need to plan this far in advance to secure cabins that are needed for the group to attend. We will be touring many of the great scenic locations within the Haliburton Forest taking in the Fall Colors, Sunrise Colors, Sunset Images, and some Landscapes. We may take in a few of the waterfalls, see many of the various lakes. Saturday nights dinner will be the annual potluck dinner where everyone brings a dish to share and enjoy. We will also enjoy the left overs on Sunday evening. The cabins have all the comforts of home, Each room has 2 single beds, with some having a dou-ble bed by itself or also with a single bed depending upon the cabin we book. There are 3 bed-rooms in each cabin and will sleep 5 - 6 people. Each person will have their own bed. Each cabin also have a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, living room, propane heat, hot and cold running water, bathroom with a shower. In the past we have booked the two adjoining cabin which can sleep 11 - 13 people. Currently I am looking to see how many people are interested in attending so the accommodations can be booked. The non-refundable deposit will need to be paid in order to secure your spot. I will arrange any carpools and shared accommodations. A list of what you'll need to bring will also be provided as time gets closer to the departure date. If you have any questions please feel free to send me an email. Please let Maureen Littlewood know if you are interested in attending. Maureen Littlewood [email protected] 416-723-9581

Neighbourhood Living Update - Magazine
The magazine is planning on going Monthly. They are looking to having local photographers submit photos and be published in their magazine. Take a look at the publications and if you are able do sub-mit some images. Images are DUE: May 5th for the next issue. Send in images even for the July issue too. See below for more details.
I want to promote the East End; through the eyes of its artists, photographers, musicians and people; through the digital network I am building, ( a network that has subscribers, magazine supporters and Facebook Group Members-as the network grows it is expanding into the rest of Toronto). There is magic in the East End, and the artists are able to capture that magic for Neighbourhood Living read-ers.
I am looking for photographers who would like to be promoted in the network. I would be promoting them year round as we hope to become a monthly within six months. For the upcoming May and July issue, I ask for a few images of the East End and if you could talk about your creative process around these images-to give readers a better sense of you.
If there are others you know who would be interested , I would be glad to work with them as well. I look forward to having you in the upcoming issues.
Cheers

Submitted by Sarah Boutilier (Vancouver, B.C.) It really is amazing watching a guy in Stanley Park stack rocks, - some pretty big, that just seem to defy gravity. Zen and the art of rock stacking! All I know is if I were to try it, all I would get for my efforts are scraped shins and busted toes. I must say Michael is even better than the Stanley Park guy. He’s also from B.C. The vertical ones you can possibly write off as a balanc-ing act but how he does the arches truly does defy gravity! Pretty cool! This is so hard to believe; so impressive. How does he do it? Not even a drop of Crazy Glue!
