9. Bob and Betty Lander have sadly departed so we are desperately looking for someone to take on the roll of
meeting steward and Happy Diners Coordinator. Could anyone able to help out with these roles please see the

information bulletin to keep members informed of progress and seek input. The document was prepared by
Con Harriman, the Conference Coordinator who was unable to attend the meeting. Thanks Con.
13. The meeting was again reminded that some members haven’t paid their dues and with an upcoming show,
non financial members are ineligible to exhibit.
Murray Ferguson then gave a very interesting talk on his history in the orchid arena. On insistence from the floor he then gave a very interesting demonstration on potting a couple of Paphiopedilum plants. I’m sure we all learnt something from the enjoyable discussion that ensued. Thanks Murray.

factor, with high admission price and lack of serious advertising being the others. Most unfortunate! Having said
all that, the number or orchids on display was well up from last year with 160 plants exhibited. The novice section
was disappointing with only a couple of exhibitors from a total of eight exhibitors but the quality was as good as
ever.
Judging on Thursday night was carried out with a minimum of fuss. And a minimum number of judges as well
with only three judges heeding the call. Enormous thanks to those judges.
The fine tuning of the new software by Steve also expedited the process immensely. With only one person
typing, the prize cards were distributed within 20 minutes of judging being finalised. Thanks Steve and Sonia.
Thanks also to Murray and his show committee for the well organised and executed plan for setup and running of
the show with a minimum of fuss.
A big heartfelt thanks to all members who exhibited plants and those who gave their valuable time in the various
areas during the show under adverse conditions. It was a great team effort of which I’m justifiably proud and one
I’m certain we can emulate in the other 3 shows this year.
To you all - THANKS. John
