Spring Fling has come and gone and what a time we had. We had enough of us from the Chapter, that we won
Largest Chapter Attending in AA Division. Also won wood in the Best Dressed Chapter, Best Dressed Couple and
most of all, Sandy Hayes was nominated the MEC of the Year. Of course, we all knew she won, but she did not,
because she had to cancel the trip due to her brother having an operation in Little Rock, AR. She had stayed all
week in AR. to be with him during that time. Eldon Seaton, whom is Sandy’s brother also, stayed in AR. So, both
of them had missed out on Spring Fling. So, we decided to keep her winnings a secret until we had our next meeting to surprise her.
Well the meeting finally came around and we showed the wood to the members that did not get to go to Spring
Fling and then Reginald & Kim was called up to give Sandy her Plaque. What a surprise, she was in tears and
had no idea that she had won the MEC of the Year. Of course, we had a Kodak moment! We took some good pic-
tures of her.
Rosey had taken time to make some of those very nice pens that he turns on a lathe. He made some that were
from deer antlers. These pens usually sale for about $35.00 to $45.00. He made three of them and gave them out
as Grand Door Prizes. He also made several (9) pairs of earrings from deer antlers and gave them out also as
Grand Door Prizes. So, the ladies in the Chapter (nine of them) ended up with a set of deer antlers earrings. Of
course, we had the regular door prizes and had several of them.
We attended the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival in May. We set up there to raise money for St. Jude. Did
not do as good as we wanted to, but we did raise some money for St. Jude. As always, we had a Great time. Fri-
day, man did it rain. They had put the parade off till 11:00am, it usually starts at 9:30am, but the rain had post-
poned it till 11:00. It stopped raining and they started the Parade. Just as it got going good, the bottom fell out and it poured, but that did not stop the Parade, they just kept going. Talking about some soaked people, but you
know, the streets were still full of people and no one left. They broke out the umbrellas and stayed until the pa-
rade was over. Once it was over, the streets cleared real fast. I think the rain kept us from making good money
for St. Jude.
Oh well, we have a day coming up in June to raise more money for St. Jude at Walmart, we usually do good
there. Don’t forget that Chapter Q’s Fun Day is June 1st and Chapter H&Z’s Fun Day is June 8th. We are putting
on a ARC class on June 22nd at the Old Country Store, class starts at 08:00am, we welcome anyone that needs
the class or just wants to take the class to come and join us. Come early and we can have some breakfast to-
gether.
BIG THANKS TO THE DISTRICT STAFF FOR A JOB WELL DONE AT SPRING FLING!!

Hello, folks. It has been a while since I have all of you, but I have been busy helping my brother. We finally got
him to a doctor and he ended up having a broken hip. It only took 3 months to get help. He now has a temporary
hip, on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks, and then goes back and gets a regular hip replacement. He fell at work in
January and did all this damage. Workman’s comp refuses to pay because the Surgeon said he could not say
that at least 50 % of the damage was done by the fall.
I have been getting in some riding. Really enjoying it too. The weather has been great. I hope everybody is getting ready for the fish fry. Going to have a great time. The river went back down this
week. We went out to clean things up. Water got 4 feet above our concrete pad.
I hope to see all of you at our next meeting

The Power of the Wave… One of the first words we learn as a baby is HELLO, which is one of the most powerful and rewarding words.
It is definitely better than saying goodbye. Saying HELLO to someone when you first meet them immediately
puts them at ease and you start a conversation on a most friendly word. What does saying HELLO have to do
with riding motorcycles and riding them safely? Well, let’s look at this just a little deeper.
First, let’s agree that a FRIENDLY WAVE is the same thing as saying HELLO. It seems to me one of the first
things we learn when we start riding with GWRRA, next to food and ice cream, is that the members are one of
the most FUN loving, patriotic, hugging and WAVING group you will ever to know. When out riding, a friendly
WAVE to other motorcycles is letting them know we both enjoy the same thing. When we extend a friendly
WAVE to other road users, including pedestrians, it makes them notice us. That’s exactly what we want, to SEE
and be SEEN. It also lets the recipients of our WAVE know that we are a friendly group and enjoy people. A
WAVE to a child is worth gold. They will notice, wave back and tell their parents so now the adults are aware of
our presence. We have been SEEN.
Oh, nuts, that person didn’t WAVE back so I’m not going to WAVE anymore. NO… NO… NO… keep WAVING
as not only do you want the person to whom you WAVED to notice but also the tons of other observers out there
as once again we want to be SEEN. Friendliness is so rare nowadays; it’s disarming, so use the WAVE to let peo-
ple know that we are FRENIDS out having FUN. Respect begets respect and a WAVE will help you start a lot of
conversations on your outing. You never know, you may meet the same person you just waved to at your next
stop. The simple WAVE can be our first step on being noticed on the roadways. Join us and start WAVING even
more than you do now. Not only will you see a lot of people smiling at you, the WAVE will put you and your co-
rider in a very happy frame of mind. Just try it, you may like it.

Rain Rain Go Away. May has been so rainy that we haven’t gotten to ride very much. I don’t mind get-
ting wet on a trip but I hate to leave in the rain. I have worn out the Weather Channel button on my iPhone
watching for a few days in a row with no rain, so we could plan a trip to East Tennessee.
Our May gathering was fun as usual. Bill Henson got the Deer Poop Award this month. Seems he got up at
7:00pm and thought it was 7:00 am. He made coffee and got dressed. As he enjoyed his coffee on the deck he
wondered why the sky was getting dark. He didn’t remember any forecast for bad weather so he turned on the
TV to check and discovered it was nighttime.
Chapter N had a food concessions at the Strawberry Festival. We had a BERRY good time but got rained on
all 3 days. This was a fundraiser for St. Jude.
One of the May Dinner Rides was to the Meo Mio Restaurant at Bath Springs, TN. The food was great.
Sandy’s husband got to come. It was good to have Will with us. I hope we didn’t scare him so bad that he won’t
go again. You know Chapter N is a little loud and crazy sometimes.
Meo Mio Follow Up By Sandy Hayes:
I just had to add a short story from the fun dinner ride to Meo Mio’s on Saturday. As we sat around just en-
joying friends and stories of our lives, Tony stopped and asked Avery a question. Avery went blank for just a sec-
ond and Tony made a comment about how we forget. Then Avery said, ““My tongue got over my eye teeth and I
couldn’t see what I was saying.” Fortunately, I was already seated, because you know what can happen when I
get that tickled about something. I have never heard that statement before. So I just had to save the story and
share it with all of you. Just remember every time you can use this statement, that you missed a great afternoon
Cajun meal and some fantastic fellowship with friends. Way to go Avery.

WOW! Spring Fling. Everything I see shows everyone had a great time. The pictures of the chapter were
fabulous. You all looked great in your overalls, engineer hats and red bandanas. And the shirts with bolo ties
and vests looked fantastic! You deserved Best Dressed. And there you were on stage with the talent-looked like
there was 18 of you on stage. I kept thinking it would be grand to have talking pictures in the slide show so I
could hear everything.
Then I saw the picture of Tony standing with Kim and Reginald which made Saturday night’s monthly gather-
ing surprise that much more special. Knowing all of you were there to share in the joy of such a wonderful
award. MEC of the Year, WOW! We have had so much fun this past year—the gatherings, the dinner rides, chasing wood and all those Fun Days. We travel as a team sharing all the fun just like we should—family.
Thank you to each of you for sharing this award with me. I am so proud—and SPEECHLESS! You know I cried.
You make this so much fun. Enough of me—let’s talk about all of you.
Guys, monthly gathering was fun! Remember the “Suck it Up” competition a few months ago? Well I thought
it was the ladies time to give it a try!! Still fun to watch the competition. Way to go girls!! The TEAM Olympics
scoring is very tight. It’s anyone’s game at this point.
Thanks to all who worked the Strawberry Festival. Weather was not cooperating but Saturday morning, no
rain. And no people. But Little G got out the megaphone and advertised the specials like crazy. G where was
that guy putting all those hot dogs? We had fun. Meo Mio’s will have come and gone but I know the food will be
great. And Dairy Queen here we come!! May 23rd Dinner Ride, if I don’t see you there, I will see you at the June
monthly gathering.

Love...Love will keep us together
Think of me baby whenever,
Some sweet Har-ley bike comes a long, rattlin' a song
Don't ride it around, you just got to be strong.
Just stop, 'cause I really love you,
Stop, I been thinking of you.
Look at three wheels and let love...
keep us together.
You...You belong to me now,
Ain't gonna set you free now,
When those Harley bikes start hang-
ing around
making loud sounds.
Crank up this Trike and you won't
hear a sound.
Just stop, 'cause I really love you,
Stop, I been thinking of you.
Look at three wheels and let love...
keep us together.
I'm chromed and beautiful
Goldwing Trikes always hang on
When your Harley breaks you down
Who'll be taking you home?
I will...I will... I will
Love Will Keep Us
Together…Yeah
Baby!

Getting To Know You
Gold Wing Road Riders Association TN-N
Hello, my name is Thomina Alexander. I am excited about the opportunity to share something about me.
This idea of sharing has been a great way to get to know more about each of our members in Chapter N. So I will
start with a little about my roots.
I was born in Camden, Tennessee and I still live there today. No getting up before the crack of dawn for me; I
stay at home and enjoy every minute just relaxing.
I am married to Gerry and we have one child who currently lives in Nashville. Gerry and I own a 2009 GL
1800 Hannigan Trike. We ride the trike to many places but my favorite trip on the motorcycle was to Myrtle
Beach in North Carolina.
I joined GWRRA in December of 2009 and we have been a member of Chapter N since 2012. Although I have
not held any officer positions, I have had a fabulous time attending meetings, sharing with friends and partici-
pating in all the great dinner rides and chapter activities. Boy, one of my greatest memories in GWRRA was our
trip to Pigeon Forge, and that breathtaking trip on the Tail of the Dragon. Many say they have to do it once, but
then they say “Never again!” You will just have to guess which I am.

News From Region N
From our first day as Region Directors, we've been kicking around ideas for fundraising. We're all very aware
of the expenses involved in doing our jobs. We also realize that we can't require or even expect our team mem-
bers to take care of all the financial burdens from their own pockets. That means we must have a way to raise
funds, which is one of the main reasons that each of you promote and present your annual District Rallies.
(conventions)
Now for the new idea. While this serves as OUR fund raiser, it can also be a fund raiser for our chapters.
We'd like to enlist your service and offer a suggestion as an easy chapter fund raiser. For any chapters inter-
ested, we'll send as many tickets as you want to sell. If your chapter members sell a ticket for $5.00, the chapter
keeps $1.00 for chapter funds. So, for every 500 tickets sold, the chapter would pocket $500.00. The only thing
sent back to Region would be at the rate of $4.00 per ticket. VERY EASY FUND RAISER!!!
The plan is to make this a win-win-win for our Chapters, District Teams as well as for your Region Team. It would help at the chapter level, eliminate the need for adding another rally that would hurt all our district ral-
lies, and would add hundreds of sales people for the tickets. We don't want this to be an added responsibility for
our Districts to maintain, so if you would pass this request to your chapters, we'll be glad to work directly with
any chapters interested.
Thanks for your assistance. Any questions or concerns, please email or call.

Directors and Teams;
I want to bring your attention to an addition to the plaque rules. I have changed the Sectional Plaque rules to
bring it in line with the Tennessee Plaques rules. Paragraph 6 has been added, no chapter can get the plaque
back to back unless no chapter shows to capture it then the next month it will be available to the original chap-
ter, just the same as the District Plaque.
6. No Chapter can regain possession of the plaque until it has been taken from the Chapter in which the said Chapter presented it to. The one exception is that if during the next event the
plaque is not captured by anyone, then at the following event, the plaque will be available to the
previous possessing Chapter. (Example: If Chapter A has the plaque and Chapter B comes and
takes possession, then Chapter A cannot regain possession from Chapter B at Chapter B’s next
event. They must wait until another Chapter has taken it unless no one
captures it from Chapter B, in which case Chapter A will become eligible to
capture it from Chapter B at their next event.)
This will make our rules more consistent across the board.
Thanks to all of you for a great Spring Fling,

N. If you are a GWRRA member and need something, be sure to tell them. They will give you a discount on
anything you buy, but tell them before they ring you up. Let’s support these businesses!
For upcoming events, if you want to see a flyer or registration form, visit
www.tngwrra.org, all flyers and registration forms are on the Events Calendar.
