Family of Saint Dominic, Happy Pentecost!!!
"“When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they
were all in one place together. And suddenly
there came from the sky a noise like a strong
driving wind, and it filled the entire house in
which they were. Then there appeared to them
tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest
on each one of them. And they were all filled
with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in
different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to
proclaim.” Acts 2
In the book of the Acts of the Apostles, which
refers to the celebration of Pentecost, we see
how the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples
who were all together in one place. They
received the gifts of the Holy Spirit which are
seven: wisdom, intelligence, counsel, strength,
science, piety and fear of God. We also receive
the Holy Spirit through the sacraments; in a very
special way in Baptism and Confirmation.
Today we remember precisely the coming of the
Holy Spirit upon his Church, Pentecost, and how
the disciples are gathered to await his divine
presence in our lives, which is present in the
Eucharistic celebration. "The gift of the Holy
Spirit that you are now going to receive, as a
spiritual seal, will complement in you the resem-
blance with Christ and make you more perfect
members of the Church." (Confirmation Rite)
I would like to ask the entire Saint Dominic
family to pray for the young people of Our
Parish who received the sacrament of Confirma-
tion in the past days, so that God may turn them
into living members of his Church and may they
be similar to Christ. God bless you.
Fr. Franklin Duran

We NEED YOU! When Our Phone Rings, Will You Answer It?
Somewhere in the world, a lost soul is dialing our toll-free number
hoping to find help. Will you answer that call? If God is calling you to
help others, consider becoming a phone counselor for the The Upper
Room Crisis Hotline. We are a Faith-Based Hotline in the Catholic
tradition providing counseling and referral assistance to anyone
struggling to find his or her way back to God or a more rational life.
We help everyone regardless of their faith or background. To be a
phone counselor, you don’t need experience in mental health or phone
work, although that background is helpful. What you will need is a
love of people and a strong desire to help the lonely, frightened, and
confused. We provide all the training. If this ministry touches your
heart, please call Sr. Mary Frances Seeley at815-258-9019, or
email [email protected] with questions. Our next training
session begins in June. You can also check us out

Project Gabriel Update
Happy month of May, the month of Our Lady,
whom we consider a special patron of Project
Gabriel. We thank her for her 'Yes' to God and
ask her for the grace to do the same in our lives.
We continue in our need for new Angel vol-
unteers as we are experiencing our first
"wait-listed" mom due to limited Angel
resources. Is God calling you, in this way, to say
'yes' to women who choose life? If you would
like to make a difference in the life of a Mom
and her family, please consider being an Angel
volunteer. An Angel is a mentor, a friend. Some-
one who cares and will listen and would like to
help. Someone who is part of a very supportive
group, who are there for each other in their
desire to help Moms become more independent
and self-reliant. We meet every first Thursday of
the month.
If you have any questions or
are interested in this ministry,
please feel free to call Connie at
630-803-0729.
Thank you for your prayers
and consideration. God bless
you.

PRAYER, PIZZA and PAINT!
Plan on joining the Council of Catholic Women as we gather on Thursday, May 31st at St Francis for Prayer, Pizza and
Paint! Starting at 6:45PM, we will join in prayer, take time for a quick bite of pizza and salad, and then let our artistic
talents explode as we paint an evocative summer scene and enjoy good company before breaking for a relaxing, yet,
no doubt busy summer season. There will be a $15.00 cost for supplies, payable that evening. Space is limited so please
respond to [email protected] by Friday, May 25th if you will attend so that we will have sufficient
materials on hand. Hope to see you then
