"Heroes for the Cure" June 2 - Falling Springs Join the VPC team in the fight against cancer. Woodford County Relay for Life Our team will join other teams in our community tak- ing turns walking or running around the track in this non -competitive event while enjoying games, food, music and camaraderie. If walking or running is not your thing, you can join us in our tent to soak in the atmosphere. Please sign up in the Welcome Center for the ap- proximate time you will join us. We need represen- tation from 7 pm - midnight. At nightfall, all participants will share in a special lu- minaria ceremony to remember those individuals who have been affected by cancer. Candles will be lit in honor or memory of cancer patients, which will be placed around the perimeter of the track. You are invited to participate in this effort by ordering a luminaria or lantern of love in honor/memory of one who has been touched by cancer. Luminaria or- der forms will be available in the Welcome Center. The overall theme for the Relay this year, is "Heroes for the Cure". VPC's team will focus on our own heroes; those in the congregation who have or have had cancer of any diagnosis. We already know about many of you, but would appreciate all of you "heroes" contacting Rachel Vasilakes, Carol Dick- ey or Kathy Jones - telling us about your experience. ~ ~ ~ Costume Contest For those of you that want to be daring and creative at the same time, we will host a cos- tume contest in our tent and judging will be right after the luminary ceremony. If you are interested in participating, please let Rachel Vasilakes, Kathy Jones or Carol Dickey know and we will get you a cape to decorate. Our focus will be Every Day and Super Heroes so you will have a wide range of ideas to choose from.

"Heroes for the Cure"

Mission Trip Volunteers Needed

The WCPCUSA Youth group (our collaborative youth group with Pisgah Presbyterian) is seeking volunteers to join the mission trip team to New York

City later this summer. The trip will be July 30-August 4 and cost $250 per person. Please let Ryan or Keith know if you would be in-terested in serving with our youth!

Children’s Church - now through 5th Grade The Christian Education committee met this past Tuesday and made the decision to welcome 3rd -5th grade age children to join us during Children's Church on Sunday mornings during worship.

All children preschool (age 3) through 5th grade are invited to join us. Snacks will be provided. Please invite your friends and family. We will have a closing celebration on Friday, June 16. The celebration is a final activity for all that partici-pated in VBS and everyone in the church is invited to attend! Sign up online or use the forms that are in the Welcome Center.

Safe Environment Policy It is our in-tent at VPC to provide those entrusted to our care with a se-cure and nurtur-ing environment abundant in Christian love. We follow prac-

tices and procedures that maximize the safe-ty and well-being of minors and others who may be vulnerable. Therefore, the Safe Child Policy has been modified to be more inclusive and is now designated the Safe Environment Policy. Woodford Fairness Coalition

Muffin Ministry Versailles Presbyterian Church has a ministry to patients undergoing treatments for can-cer and living at Hope Lodge in Lexington. Once a month on the first Monday a baker(s) will as-semble a grab-and-go breakfast of muffins and fresh fruit. The time commitment is about 1 1/2 hours and all ingredients and written instructions are in the kitchen of the church. We only

need 1-2 people for each time slot. Please consider signing up for this very important minis-try, the sign-up sheet will be in the Welcome Center. If you have questions you may call Mary Nehring 873-2091.
