OUR LADY OF VICTORY CHURCH May 17-18, 2014
The 2014 Bishop’s Annual Appeal is the larg-
est individual funding source for the pastoral and
charitable ministries and programs of the Diocese
of Columbus. This year’s theme “Christ the Sure
Foundation” reminds us that He is our source of
strength from which all blessings flow. In estab-
lishing His church on earth Christ entrusted to us
its care and the care of each other. Your willing-
ness to share these gifts for the benefit of others
is an act of faith and helps to form us all into the
people the Lord has called us to be.
Our parish has been asked to raise $58,878. This
year the parish will combine the Bishop Annual
Appeal with Our Lady of Victory Maintenance
Appeal. Monies the parish raises above the ap-
peal target will be returned to the parish. The
parish will use the refund to finance parish main-
tenance projects. Maintenance projects include:
 Replace sidewalks at Church entrance
Build a gathering space at Church entrance
Improve prayer garden with new statuary on
Church grounds
 Seal Church parking lot
Re-varnish front and side doors of Church
and front door of Rectory
Install inter-com system (two-way) in the
Religious Education Center
Build new stands for Church statuary
I am most grateful for your willingness to share
your time, your talent and your treasures in sup-
port of our Diocese and Parish Community.

WHO BENEFITS?
WWWW e must all consider the foundation of who we are and what
we have – from substance rather than abundance. What each per-
son gives directly affects the spiritual, educational, and physical
needs of others in our faith communities. These pages identify Di-
ocesan programs funded through the generosity of all those who
contribute to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, continuing the Mission
throughout our twenty-three counties.

FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
The Department of Religious Education is pleased to offer a new program of guided Bible Study for Middle and High School students. Join us this Summer as we explore the Book of Genesis with the help of the award-winning Six Weeks with the Bible for Catholic Teens program from Loyola Press. In six once-a-week sessions we will:
Read Genesis Chapters 1-11…from the Garden of Eden to the Tower of Babel (spoiler alert—these chapters contain the key to understanding pretty much all of human history up to now!)
Learn how the Church teaches us to understand and interpret Scripture.
Learn about LectioDivina (how to pray by reading the Bible) and other cool Latin phrases…with one or two Greek phrases sprinkled in.
Expand our minds through discussion, our spirits through prayer, and our friendships through fellowship.
Enjoy an occasional snack and carbonated beverage The Bible Study will be led by Adrien Ardoin, parishioner, dad, and cate-chist to 5th and 8th graders at OLV. Mr. Ardoin is an experienced literature and writing instructor (at OSU and elsewhere), and he plans to keep things fun, lively, and inspiring.
“Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ” –St. Jerome Six Weeks with the Bible for Catholic Teens is a program specifically designed for guided group study. Written by Gerald Darring of Spring Hill College and journalist-author Kevin Perrotta, the guidebook we will use integrates the Biblical text with questions, analysis, back-ground material, and opportunities for prayer. One of the things that makes this program special is that it takes a fully Catholic approach to Bible Study; we learn with and through the Church as we read God’s Word.
“For what is sacred Scripture but a kind of letter from Almighty God to His creature?” –St. Gregory the Great
If you knew God was at the door, wouldn’t you open it? If you knew He was calling, wouldn’t you answer? Well, He’s written you a let-ter…won’t you read it?
The Bible study group will meet Monday evenings (June 9-July 14) from 6-7:30p in the Religious Education lounge area. The registration fee is $75 per student, which includes the price of the book we will use. All other materials will be provided. Please contact Religious Education at [email protected] or call 486-7678 for more information.
