3WEEKLY PARISH BULLETIN - June 28, 2020
…"Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because the little one is a disciple—amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.” This weekend’s Gospel teaches a great lesson. If God has a gift (or a message) for you, you have to open your mind/heart/hands to receive the gift. The gift will be a great blessing for you. The gift may come in the call or person that you least expect. We need to make sure we are open to receiving the Lord in each person and opportunity that comes our way. Open your heart to receive the Lord.
…God bless you for the outpouring of prayers, cards, and support for Father Bob Lorkowski. He is so grateful for your thoughtfulness. This past week he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in his thalamus. He will start six weeks of radiation, hopefully, next week. Please keep him in your prayers.
…God bless you for the outpouring of care and support for the families who are dealing with great loss this week as we commend Trevor Pacek, Joshua Schwandt, and Frank Raso to the Lord. May God bless you abundantly for your goodness, care and support you give to those in need. As today’s Gospel proclaims, you will “surely not lose his (your) reward” from God.
…We are gently, and safely, bringing our parish ministries back to life. We could use some help in a couple of very important ministries – this week – especially – in offering hospitality and/or serving as an acolyte (Mass Server) for our funerals. There’s a good group who assist and would eagerly/happily/gratefully welcome some additional help. They will all tell you how meaningful it is to bring the compassion
of Christ to families in this most important/meaningful moments of their lives. If you want to learn more or sign up, please contact Ed Kilroy at [email protected].
…Next Monday, July 6, is Mercy Monday. Your goodness to help us take care of those in need in these challenging times has been a blessing beyond words. You can drop off canned food items, paper products at the Catholic Works of Mercy Outreach Center. We also need BREAD for the PB&J lunches that we are providing. Thanks so much for your goodness. God will bless you abundantly.
…Mark the date…make it a plan…Saint Ambrose Drive in Movie Night on the big, big screen on Saturday, July 11. All the details are in the bulletin. Everyone will stay in the safety and comfort of their car. It will be a great family night. Spread the word…pop the popcorn…make plans to attend.
…The night before the movie night (July 10), the Faithful After 50 group is coming together for an outdoor Mass and cookout. They would love to invite all our members in the age range of 55 to 65 to join them for some good friendship, prayer, amazing food, and fellowship. For more information, see today’s bulletin, or contact Jim Rauschenbach at [email protected]. It’s a great group of folk. You should really consider joining them for this fun summer night.
…Our STARS4Life ministry could use some help. Saint Ambrose Relay for Life has been active over the years raising money for cancer awareness, research and support. We’ve done this as part of the larger community for many years. The group has sponsored a June 5k and 1mile race, along with some other activities. With the race cancelled this year, we would like to start now to renew the group and get some energy around this effort. If you would like to get involved and/or learn more, please let me know ([email protected]).
…Something new...on Tuesday, June 30, we’ve invited four priests to be with us for a Communal Penance. This is your best moment in the month to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation/Confession. With Fr. Lorkowski’s sickness, and Fr. Jeremy’s transfer, it’s going to be best to invite several priests to join us once a month. They will be in the Church and ready to celebrate and offer the healing grace of Christ from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm. All are welcome.
…Many thanks to all who are turning in their festival raffle tickets. This is so helpful for our parish community. You can read about all the great prizes in today’s bulletin and online on our parish website. You can also get your tickets from the Parish Office or online. We really would appreciate your help and support. You can win a brand new car from Brunswick AutoMart, or some new windows/doors from Universal Windows Direct, or a great trip from Encompass the World Travel. Thank you so much!
...God bless Janet Majka and her VBS Team for creating a Virtual Vacation Bible School for your kids/grandkids and all our young people. See today’s bulletin for all the details. It’s coming soon. Please spread the word and invite everyone you know to journey with Jesus!!!
…Janet and Kim Nemet and the CLOW (Children’s Liturgy of the Word) team have been working hard to prepare weekly Gospel lessons for our young members. Make sure you check them out on our parish website: www.StAmbrose.us/CLOW.
…Did you see the BIG pots of plants/flowers are back in the courtyard and by the outdoor Mary statue? They come to our parish as a gift from one of our members. They look great and really add a special touch to our parish campus. We are blessed!!!
…Speaking of the campus…did you take a walk around and look at all the beautiful flowers?? God bless our Adopt-A-Patch team!!!
…BTW…next weekend wear red, white, and blue to Mass as we celebrate July 4th! It’s a moment to celebrate our freedom, and also to be so grateful for the religious liberty we enjoy in our country. It’s also a moment for us to pray for peace and, even more, that each of us can be instruments of God’s peace.
…Every day, God wants to give us a gift/blessing. We need to open our hearts to receive this gift of God’s faithful, abiding presence.

Jesus In The Holy EucharistJoin Our Virtual Workshops
Recently the Eucharistic Conference was held in the virtual world. The committee saw an opportunity to focus on the source and summit of our Faith – Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. To this end, they assembled more than 50 world-renowned presenters, clergy, and theologians to share their wisdom, insights, and personal testimonies on the Eucharist. This virtual conference was so
worthwhile, we purchased a pass to all of the workshops so that we could show them to interested parishioners.
During the months of July and August, Jane Baldwin, Spiritual Life Coordinator, will be offering daytime and evening sessions where you can view and discuss these virtual workshops. Please reach out to Jane at [email protected] to let her know what days and times work best for you.
Lectio Prayer Group | Virtual Meetings Starting in JulyThough prayer is one of the essentials of a thriving faith, we often feel as if we’re talking to ourselves—or worse, as if we’re talking to no one at all. How can something so vital to the Faith be so elusive? Lectio: Join us to watch the series and develop a closer relationship with God.
This virtual study will allow you to watch episodes on FORMED at home prior to the meeting (30 minutes). The Zoom Meeting will be Wednesdays, July 8 - August 12 at 7:00 pm. During the meeting, we will have discussion about the video and the questions in the workbook. The workbook can be downloaded and printed from FORMED for FREE or purchased through the parish for $10.00, we have 10 copies available. If you would like to participate, contact Trish Shaw, [email protected] or 440.590.0083.

Stephen Ministry Stressed? Discouraged? Lonely? Sad? Do not Suffer Alone.
Help is Available.Sometimes we fall into a trap where we think it is a sign of weakness to ask for help. So, when we are stressed, discouraged, lonely or sad, we try to keep our struggles hidden and are reluctant to ask for help. However, that’s not God’s plan. Galatians 6:2 says, “Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.” God wants us to care for
others - and allow others to care for us in our time of need.
If you are sad or struggling inside, do not suffer alone. Ask for help. We have got a team of Stephen Ministers who are ready to provide confidential one-on-one care, encouragement, and support to help you through a tough time. Find out more about Stephen Ministry by talking with one of our Stephen Ministry Leaders: Lisa Homady at [email protected] or 330.460.7315, or Carol Maline at [email protected]
Goldie Mack's 90th Birthday Celebration What a Surprise!
Hello everyone, We (Leigh, Fred, Frank, Julie) want to thank you for making our mom's 90th birthday so special.
She was overwhelmed with all the birthday cards (she received 74)
and flowers, as well as a surprise car caravan on Sunday, June 14 (about 25 vehicles participated and the drivers seemed just as excited as mom).
Mom was grinning from ear to ear for three days! Thanks again for being a part of such a big surprise celebration.

I pray for my friends who are trying to have a baby. They were told they have a very small chance of conceiving naturally. I pray the Lord guides them and helps them so that they are able to have a baby. Dear Lord, we ask that You bless this couple with the precious gift of life and that they are overjoyed soon to learn that they are expecting. Amen.

Marriage advice from1886: "Let your love be stronger than your anger...Believe the best rather than the worst...

Spiritual Life Programming Continues OnKeeping Spirits Up While We're ApartDuring the pandemic, we may have had to close our Church doors for Masses or our buildings for meetings, but there was still a need for spirituality. Throughout this difficult time, people have been relying on their faith. As far as the Church leaders, we have found a new way to conduct our ministry work to assist our parishioners in deepening their faith.
Many of our ministry and parish leaders were involved in conducting numerous wellness checks via phone to all of our parishioners. It was essential that callers emphasized that as a parish community, we were there for them while also identifying those individuals who needed help, whether it was in grocery or medical needs. People were so appreciative of those calls.
We found that we were able to conduct many of our meetings in the virtual world, providing participants, not only the time to interact with others, but also to receive spiritual programming. Book clubs continued, which allowed individuals time to interact and discuss material while using the Zoom platform. Scripture studies have also continued so that participants could read and discuss God’s word.
Ladies First held a virtual meeting which centered on friendship. Women were able to express what they had done for their friends during the pandemic and what their friends had done for them. This provided wonderful suggestions of support that participants could then do for their friends and family members.
We are using this time to strengthen our community by holding each other in prayer. While we cannot be together in large groups, we can be together in prayer and spirit. Over 200 individuals signed up to be a Prayer Partner. It’s quite simple. Complete the form on our website expressing your willingness to be a prayer partner. We will assign you another member of our parish for you to pray for over these days. Once we are able to all come back together, we will have a wonderful ice cream social so you can meet/connect with your prayer partner. We are always better together.
Summer programming will continue to offer virtual events and meetings. Make sure that you check out our website and Facebook to learn more. You can also reach out to Jane Baldwin, Spiritual Life Coordinator at [email protected].
