Stella Maris Ministry: Seafarers need our help!As the pandemic continues to create many issues for the crews, we will begin taking care packages to the ships again. We could use some donations of toiletries, snacks and other items.  A laundry basket will be placed outside of the OLG church office to receive your donations.  Unlike the Christmas package drive, each ship will only receive one large box for the Captain to distribute as he sees best. Suggested items include but are not limited to:   Full size toiletries, such as  shampoo,  conditioner,  body wash, shaving cream, lotion, powder, deodorant, toothpaste, multi-packs of hygiene items, such as  toothbrushes,  dental picks,  razors, wet wipes,  puzzle books, seek-n-find, sudoku, small games, cards, dice, etc., snack food, such as microwave popcorn,  Pringles (can protects the chips) store brand is good, M & M candies – they will hold up to our Texas heat, various nuts and other durable snacks,  *cheap sunglasses (like dollar store) – sunglasses get broken/lost often and the glare at sea is very bad. Any sunglasses are better than nothing when you spend hours on deck of a ship.

Walk Across Texas is for Everyone!

The goal is for you to get people you know together to form a team to walk 832+ miles to get across Texas in 8 weeks or less. That is only about 2 miles a day per person for a team of 8. You go to HowdyHealth.org to register and if you want to join the Calhoun County League you create your team using the league code: WATL-210423-34526  You will then be given a Team code to share with the members of your team. Our Calhoun County Walk Across Texas Starts May 24, 2021.  I will be walking at the Extension office on that day if you want to join me around 5:00pm. P l e a s e c o n t a c t m e i f y o u w a n t m o r e i n f o r m a t i o n .  [email protected] or 361-552-9747 x203
