VIRTUS TRAINING AT OUR LADY OF ANGELS

OLA CONFERENCE, ST. VINCENT DE PAUL

For the month of April the OLA Conference of SVDP collected 1,950 pounds of food and assisted 135 friends. Thank you for your ongoing support of the food pantry. On June 4, from 8:00-1:00 p.m. the Conference will host a yard sale. The conference is accepting gently used, clean clothing for babies, boys, girls, men, and women. Please no undergarments. We are also accepting toys (all types), small kitchen and furniture items, small electronics (computers, flat screen TVs/monitors, radios, printers, etc.), tools, sports equipment, and blankets. Donations can be made on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the Month from 3:00-5:00 p.m. or by email us at olasvdp@olasvdp.org.

“NEW EVANGELIZATION” FROM OLA TO CUBA

The Legion of Mary and the New Evangelization : Do you wish to know what the “New Evangelization" is all about? Did you know that the Legion of Mary, a worldwide apostolate for over 90 years, was way ahead of its time in being an instrument of bringing Christ’s message to the world? Did you know that Fr. Baez will be traveling with a group of Legion of Mary members FROM OLA to Cuba to knock on the doors of those who are unaware of the Gospel message? Were you aware that per-sonal holiness is not just something for priests, deacons, and religious but for everyone? If you want to learn more, the Le-gion of Mary is for you. It is more than just a bunch of Seniors sitting around praying the rosary. We will be at all masses on May 21-22 in the vestibule of the church to answer ques-tions. A VERY SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY This weekend our very best wishes are extended to Fr. O’Keefe, as he commemorates the anniversary of his ordi-nation. (May 20). This was a very special day for all of us as he committed his life to serving God’s people.

Fr. O'Keefe was ordained by the Most Rev. Bishop John Keating. He has been selfless in his service to our parish as well as the other parishes in the diocese that he has served.

Please remember him in your prayers and offer your con-gratulations to him for his years of service to the people of the diocese of Arlington.

There is a May Crowning during classes today, May 15, and Tuesday, May 17!

Confirmation 2016 Test: All religious education classes receiv-ing Confirmation in Fall 2016, including Aquinas and homeschooled students, will have the Confirmation Exam during class today, May 15, at 6:30pm and Tuesday, May 17, at 5:00pm. Aquinas and Homeschooled students report to the St. Sophia Room and may take the exam on either day.

Last Classes: The last days of Religious Education classes for this year are today, May 15, for Sunday and May 17 for Tues-day. Thank you for a great year!

All Volunteers for the Religious Education Program are invited to the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner and Dancing on Sunday, May 22, at 6:30pm. Please RSVP with the Religious Education Office. Your families are welcome!

JOIN SCOUTING NIGHT

Cub Scout Pack 136 and Boy Scout Troop 1365 will be hosting a Join Scouting Night on May 25th from 6:30 to 7:00PM in the Parish Hall. All boys currently in Kindergarten are eligible to join the Cub Scout Pack starting on June 1st and boys can remain in the Scout program until they turn 18. The Scout program at OLA provides boys with an opportunity to learn about leader-ship, enjoy the outdoors, learn new skills, make new friends, and to practice their faith while having a great time. La Legion de María y la Nueva Evangelización : ¿Sabes lo que es la “Nueva Evangelización?” El grupo de la Legión de María es “oración en acción." Por más de 90 años, la Legión de María ha sembrado el mensaje de Jesús por todas partes del mundo. La Legión ya estaba llevando a cabo el mensaje del Papa Juan Pablo II y otros papas sobre la importancia de traer el mensaje a las casas. Varios laicos que pertenecen a la Legión de María de nuestra parroquia viajarán con el Padre Ramón Baez a Cuba en julio a tocar las puertas de las casas para invitar a los Cubanos a conocer a Cristo.
