This is amazing look how it breaks out of its cocoon.

Look at the shapes and colours you can see.

These are one of the easiest found butterflies. They have orange and brown blotches on their wings and they hibernate in the winter while others migrate.

Lets explore On your daily walk see if you can spot any butterflies.

Maybe your adult will be able to take a photo to help you remember the colour and design on their wings.

Once you are home research with your adult what is the name of your butterfly you found, you may have found more than one type.

Here are a few to help you start.Britain's most common butterflies and how to spot themPainted lady: With mainly orange wings, black markings plus white and black spots, painted ladies can be seen anywhere but like dry open spaces.

Speckled wood: Look for dark brown wings with cream spots. The butterfly has spread in recent years ­ an extraordinary "success story" in response to climate change and can be found in East Anglia, the Midlands, much of northern England and some parts of Scotland

Common blue: This is the most widespread blue butterfly in Britain. The males are blue, while the colour of the females varies from nearly completely brown to predominantly blue.

The Orange- Tip In my garden I see lots of these!

Common and widespread, this medium-sized butterfly can be found in gardens and hedgerows.The males are unmistakable; white butterflies with bright orange wingtips. The females are white with black wingtips. Both have mottled green underwings.The Small White is very similar to the female but lacks the underwing markings.
