Diameter Relay Point - DRP
› DRP acts as a Diameter Proxy Agent and forwards Query and Response messages to the respective destination based on the Destination HOST, Realm and Application Id. It also performs HOST name to IP address resolution using external DNS queries
› The DRP plays a critical role in the IMS network by offering several advantages:
Reduces the number of SCTP associations required in the network. This will help simplify the overall complexity in the networkAll the network elements shall just route to DRP for any messages destined to HSS. DRP offers load-sharing, faster failure detection and recovery and efficient routing of messagesMerging the SLF and DRP functions in a single node reduced latency of HSS queries. It also reduces the number of messages required to perform a HSS queryDRP can be used to perform HSS selection as well as Diameter Mediation at a later phase
