Pastor’s Corner
Beloved Parishioners:
I would like to know that you had a very blessed week.
Last Sunday was a great day for our Church family. We
received Bishop Cheri who celebrated the Eucharist and
the Sacrament of Confirmation for the five youths of our
Church family. This weekend, we rejoice with the fami-
lies of Kendric Warren Kirk, Asmerelda Leslie Smith, Tapanga
Monique Smith and Toby Isaiah White IV who will receive the
Sacrament of First Holy Communion. This is a big step to-
wards their faith formation. We congratulate them along with
their parents, families and teachers. From now on, they are
going to be one with us at the table of the Eucharist. We wel-
come them at the table as members of our Church family.
Please join me by extending to them our congratulations. May
you have a week filled with many blessings.
Jubilee Year of Mercy
Presentation on Evangelization for all Parishioners
Evangelization is the “call and responsibility of every bap-
tized person”. (See article below from the Archdiocesan web
site.) On Tuesday, Mary 3rd, at 6:30pm, Fr. Dave Caron,
OP, Vicar of Evangelization, will address our entire parish
on this subject. This talk is for everyone, not just the Evan-
gelization Ministry but for people in all ministries and in no
ministry.
What is Evangelization?
According to the Archdiocesan web site, “Evangelization is
the joyful proclamation of God’s saving love in Jesus Christ,
risen from the dead. It involves bringing this Good News
into every human situation – through the faithful, loving
witness of our lives – inviting and leading others to encoun-
ter to the person of Jesus, who heals and transforms indi-
viduals, cultures and society. It is the declaration of God’s
incredible desire to be in loving relationship with every
member of the human family, a relationship involving ongo-
ing conversion from sin toward communion with God and
one another.
As the central mission and identity of the Church, evangeli-
zation is not a program; rather, it is the heart of all ministries
and activities in the Church. Having been baptized in Christ,
we are all sent forth in the power of the Holy Spirit to evan-
gelize, to share in the mission of Christ; seeking out the lost,
the suffering, the poor, the marginalized, the broken, and the
forgotten ones; meeting each person in his or her human
need, and sharing the life-changing message and love of our
God. This is evangelization, and it is the call and responsi-
bility of every baptized person.”
