Maxine Linehan makes an exciting debut as a recording artist this

coming Spring with the release of her superb new album “What

Would Petula Do?”. * The album pays tribute to the inspiration and

influence of ‘60’s icon and superstar Petula Clark but with Maxine’s personal

style and tasteful approach that gives a fresh look at some well known hit

material. * Clark’s recordings were often to be heard in the Linehan household

as Maxine grew up in County Cork, Ireland invoking

wonderful memories of singing along to those albums

with her Mother. “Downtown was my Mum’s signature

song,” she recalls. “I often picture her and I singing

along to Petula albums for hours.”

Following a move to New York and after several criti-

cally acclaimed years in theater there, Maxine began to

pursue a long held passion toward a career as a re-

cording artist. Inspired by Petula Clark, and after a study

of her life and career, she felt that more people from

younger generations should be aware of this remarkable

woman and her music and subsequently staged a 2009

tribute show in New York to overwhelming approval.

The positive response to the show propelled the record-

ing of this debut album “What Would Petula Do?”.

Produced by Andrew Koss and arranger Gerald

Stockstill at Andrew’s noted Tainted Blue Studios in New

York, the album contains exciting new arrangements of

ten Petula Clark hits and a new original title track open-

ing the record and written specifically for this outing.

Sonic Scoop’s David Weiss has called it a “….first

class album that will hopefully sell millions of copies

worldwide. Cut after cut of unforgettable hooks and

elite arrangements… Without a doubt (Maxine) has the

vocal chops to do her idol justice”.

Petula contacted Maxine with resounding approval

and very best wishes for the album’s success. In the

Spring of 2011 Maxine will hit the road and tour through-

out the U.S. Many cuts from the album will be included

in the show in addition to songs from that classic period

and some of her own original compositions.

Though Clark was a huge influence for Maxine, her

musical roots and sensibilities draw from a much wider

range of material and artistic influences

“I’ve always been influenced by the vocal and per-

formance talents of artists like Liza Minelli, Harry Con-

nick Jr and now Michael Bublé. It’s a broad brush

stroke for sure but I find inspiration from all kinds of

music and musicians,” says Maxine. “I believe the wider

your experience and understanding the more inventive

and creative you can become. I certainly draw great in-

spiration from the classic pop melodies sung by artists

like Petula Clark, Lesley Gore and Dusty Springfield but

I’m also enthralled by songwriting masters like U2 and

contemporary singer songwriters like Jason Mraz, Col-

by Callait and Lily Allen. As an artist, I’m always open

to new and compelling works from both writers and

recording artists.”

On deck is a fabulous new recording of Lesley Gore’s

classic hit “You Don’t Own Me”. Work is also underway

on an EP that will include new original material and pres-

ent some of Maxine’s songwriting abilities. Both projects

will again see producer Andrew Koss at the helm.

This dynamic and extraordinarily talented young

singer is without doubt, a force to be reckoned with,

watched and enjoyed at every opportunity.

Maxine Linehan grew up in County Cork, Ireland in a family that embraced the heartwarming, toe

tapping music of the sixties. Music from that era was always playing at home and in the car

with “Downtown” becoming the signature song for her Mum. As a young adult she moved to

New York City to follow her passion for music and live performance and following a study of

Petula Clark’s remarkable career, staged an acclaimed tribute to her in 2009. Maxine was inundated with

requests to make a recording following the show and so her debut album, “What Would Petula Do?”

was born. Produced by Andrew Koss and Gerald Stocksill the CD will be released in the Summer of 2011.

An accompanying tour of the US and Europe will support the CD release with performances

that will include many of the album cuts, additional songs from that classic period and a selec-

tion of Maxine’s new original compositions. FOR MORE INFO VISIT: www.maxinelinehan.com
