There are so many rumors and ideas floating around the community.... So

many different strategies to maximize your earnings.

What's the best way to make the most money

Should you post to facebook and twitter?

Posting to facebook, google, twitter etc are all good ideas. But if you

look at the amount of money people are making from those sources -- its

not much. The source that is making the most money for people (not

counting ads) -- is definitely from making new posts.The reason is that

when you make new posts, thousand of people will see it (at no cost to

you) because it is shown in their fanbox homepage feed.

leaderboard), decided to do something that no one had done before: invest all his

earnings right back into ads -- to see where it might take him.

verbal and emotional pain for joen -- for seemingly doing nothing but attempting to

out of the site and delete his account, and scott's last comment was that

these users needed to grow up and "find something more productive to

only crime was success. He suggested that a better use of their time was

to make new posts, launch ads, promote their posts on facebook or

fanbox or elsewhere.

launched an ad. Watched how it performed. Launched two more. Took

the worst performing one down. Launch new posts. Launched more ads.

Looked at what was working, and what was not. She learned from the ads

that were working, and the ones that were not.

totaling almost 100 ads in a month, taking each of them down when they no longer

performed well. She also made a lot of new posts.

and again later, helping you generate earnings.

Imagine that you are running a restaurant: you shouldn't expect to invest

money into advertising to promote your restaurant and make a profit immediately

from your advertising. By advertising, you are trying to get people to try your

restaurant, and if they like it, they will come back again and again -- and also tell

their friends. (on fanbox, users tell their friends if they like something by clicking

"like"). You will profit over the long-term if your product is good (but not in theshort-term). That's why it's called an "investment".

So expect your profits to come in the long-term - not the short-term --

although many people (like erica) have proven that it is possible to make profits in

the short-term too - if you pay attention to what's working and what's not - and

"work your ad business".

So did erica generate her earnings in an honest fashion? The answer is

absolutely and unequivocally a big yes.Are her photos actually photos of herself? I am not sure. I have never met her.

I do know that before she decided to take control of her mind, and focus her passion

on the positive pursuit of success (instead of the negative pursuit of wondering about

others, criticizing others, wishing them harm, and other negative uses of her time)

she often made zero on those days -- so i know that no one is reading her blogs

simply because they like her photos.

In fact, if you look at how she was making money before she became hardcore

about ads - you can see that she often made zero on those days. There are many

people that use beautiful photos in their profile or photo album -- whether those

photos are "really them" or not -- and (having watched their performance over time)

it is clear that nobody will visit your blogs, stay in your blogs and truly generate time

for you and keep returning to your blogs because of what you look like, whether your

photo is real or fake, whether you look like a celebrity or anything like that.

Readers will make you money if they like the content of your posts,

and they like the community that you are creating inside your posts.

So the idea that erica nicole made money -- even $10 or $20 out of the

$28,000 she generated -- from her photos in her profile or photo album is

completely false. Having done the research one more time, the numbers and

statistics are very clear about this.

So, am i saying chuck is wrong to have opinions? Or wrong to state them? Not

at all. In fact, when he asked me if it was ok if he stated his opinion on this topic

before he posted his blog, i said "absolutely. You are free to speak your mind here.

But i can tell you, from what i know, that she did not make money from her photos.

She made it by working hard on her ads".

Chuck decided, for whatever reasons i do not understand, to go ahead anyway

and accuse her of cheating, even though i made it clear to him that the facts did notback his accusation up. Perhaps, as he admitted in one of his posts, that he enjoys

being a "lightning rod" -- which i take as looking for an opportunity to create

controversy and get people's blood boiling - regardless of the consequences or harm

that might be done to others.

It saddens me to see people accused of things, and made to look dishonest,

when the accuser doesn't have facts to prove that. But unfortunately, that's the world

we live in, and anyone that has ever succeeded in doing something big with theirlives, has had to come to terms with the fact that it is much easier to criticize others

than to work hard to succeed yourself.

In life, there are those who go out there to make things happen - trying many

different things, some of which succeed and some of which fail -- and they keep

trying until they succeed.

And then there are those that sit around and point fingers -- which is a good

way to keep yourself busy so that your mind can be distracted from the very painful

reality that your time on this planet is ticking away, and you are accomplishing

nothing or very little with your life.

Albert einstein said: "great minds have always faced fierce opposition by

mediocre minds".

To be clear, i am not saying that chuck is mediocre. In fact, i happen to think

chuck did a very clever thingfor himself-- from a perspective of earnings for himself.

He drove a lot of people and community to his blog, because controversy creates

community and creates time in blogs. He also got more fans, more followers, and got

himself to stand out from the crowd. Many people now know him when they didn't

before.

Chuck also did a great thing for fanbox. By making it clear that its ok to speak

your mind - he opened up many people's thinking - and people will be more likely to

speak up in the future. People speaking their mind helps fanbox succeed - which is a

prerequisite for everyone else to succeed that's looking to do it via fanbox.

Chuck also did a great thing for erica nicole. While it may have hurt her

emotionally in the short-term (because who likes being accused of something they

did not do), in the long-term, he has brought more attention to her blogs, and to the

very positive facts that:

She is a pioneer, that decided to buck the trend and -- instead of complainingabout why others were making so much money -- she decided to focus her mind on

the positive.

All along, instead of keeping the secrets of her success to herself, she has been

passionately sharing those secrets with everyone; just look at her blog posts on the

subject. As she learned new things, she taught everyone else what she was doing -- to

make sure everyone else could do the same and enjoy the success she was having.

I can't say enough about how much i admire her for that. If you look at othersthat have made good money, many of them are very quiet about their success and

cash-outs -- as if by teaching others, it will somehow take something away from

them.

In life, you can always tell the great ones -- by how willing they are to teach

and inspire others to do the same.

Erica nicole has spent a great day of time (away from her own goals and

success) inspiring others to have confidence, believe in themselves, stay positive, set

goals and focus their minds on succeeding. This was time she could have spent

making more money for herself with the system she created.

She didn't do it for any recognition or awards -- she simply helped a lot of

people because she felt like it was the right thing to do, and she enjoys seeing people

succeed. When she started her upward push, there were only 3 people that had

exceeded $5,000 in all-time revenues. Today, only about 8 weeks later, that number

stands at 18 people -- and another 10 people are less than $1,000 away from that $5k

milestone.

I attribute some of their success to erica -- for directly and indirectly showing

people how to succeed, and by leading by example. When people asked her if fanbox

was for real, she advised them to believe in themselves, focus on the positive and stay

away from negative people and negative thoughts -- and she followed that advice

with very specific tips on what they could do to succeed.

An open letter to erica nicole - and as importantly, to anyone who

wants to be someone and achieve something:

Remember madonna, the pop star?

When she was on her way up, everybody said she has no talent, she's a fraud,she can't sing, she just wanted attention, she was no good.

She kept on doing her thing - using all the controversy to her benefit.

Eventually, when the critics realized that she simply was not going to back

down -- in fact, she was using their criticism as a vehicle for her success - they

stopped criticizing.

She's now often called the queen of pop - on the same level as none other than

elvis presley and michael jackson.As donald trump said in his book "the art of the deal": the only bad publicity is

no publicity. In a few short weeks and months, people won't even remember what

was said about you - but they will remember you.

Erica: i know it must hurt now - but believe me, you are on the way to

becoming a big star in the community. What you are facing is a necessary step on the

way to greatness. Everyone that has ever stepped up to do something great, has

experienced that.

So keep your eye on the big picture, and remind yourself that if they are

talking about you - then you must be doing something right. When they stop talking

about you - that's when you need to be worried that maybe you are not doing

anything meaningful with your life.

They say that perhaps the best way to judge a person's character, is

to see how they behave under pressure - and you have taught many of us

important lessons that we will undoubtedly use in our own lives as we work towards

our own goals and dreams.

Some of the great lessons that you taught us are:

Our minds can only hold one perspective at a time: positive or negative. We

must always find the strength to focus on the positive, even when the "clever"

negative people around us are telling us otherwise.

The next step of positivity (after focusing our minds on the positive) is to take

positive action.

Persistence (sticking to it) is the biggest of all characters of success -- more

important than luck, intelligence, education, social or economic background, and

even skill.

When you start to succeed, expect criticism. That's the first sign that you are

onto something big. Remember that only 2% of people have big goals and big dreamsand are willing to take serious action (work hard) towards those goals -- and the

other 98% work for those 2%. The choice is ours as to which side we want to be on:

the side of success; or the comfort of knowing that we're not the only losers. Like you

said: "it's not lonely at the top; it's just a lot more crowded at the bottom"

When the criticism comes, hold your head up high. That means you are

succeeding. But always take a quick look at the criticism to see if there's anything you

can learn from it. Did you make any mistakes? If so, good! Learn from the mistakesand move on. Mistakes are our biggest teacher. The sooner we learn that making

mistakes is good, and that the way to be very successful is to make lots of mistakes,

the sooner we accelerate our success. To go big, you need to fail big and fail often.

Fanbox ads = quick money?

No.

Advertising is not supposed to be a way to make a quick or instant profit - and

fanbox ads are no exception.

Ads are supposed to be a way to bring more attention and visitors to your

blogs -- and if those visitors enjoy your product - they will fan you or follow your blog

and come back again and again - in which case your advertising was a good

investment that could generate a lot of profit for you.

If your product isn't that good, your ads may bring you visitors, but those

visitors won't come back again, so it won't be profitable for you. Also, if you product

isn't good enough yet, you probably won't make much money even without ads -- so

everything starts with having a good product.

Let me use an example:

imagine you are running a restaurant. One day you decide to invest $5,000 into

advertising to bring attention to your restaurant. Maybe that week you will make

$400 from the people that see your ads and come to your restaurant. If those

customers like your food, they will keep coming back again and again.

After that week, if those people come back twice a month, over a year you will

earn an additional $9,600 - for a total of $10,000.

So you took $5,000 and turned it into $10,000 in one year. That's a 100%

profit, much better than the 3% a bank might pay you.

But wait - it gets better.

Your customers will also tell their friends, and bring their friends back with

them to eat at your restaurant. If those friends like your food, they will also tell their

friends, and if those people also like your food, they will also tell their friends, and so

forth and so on.

All together, in the next year, you might easily make $30,000 -- or more -- all

starting with your investment of $5,000 in ads -- which, remember, only earned you

$400 in the first week.

So:

1) you need to look at ads as an investment - that couldpay off over the long term -

but not the short term.

Unfortunately i think that because some people have been very successful with

ads on fanbox in the short-term, it may have created the impression or expectation

that this is how it should work -- that if you spend $100 on ads in day 1, that youshould make $100 or more that same day.

This unfortunate and wrong expectation on the part of some people has

attracted a gold rush of people looking to make money with ads -- together launching

thousands of new ads each day -- and that is why fanbox ads are oversubscribed (sold

out) each and every day.

You might think that fanbox's management is happy about the massivedemand for ads; but it is not -- because it is worried that many people will be

disappointed if or when those inflated expectations do not materialize. After all, the

success of fanbox depends on its users and bloggers being happy with its service --

and that their expectations as customers are met over the long term.

2) before you invest in ads: it all starts with a good product (your blog posts). If

the quality of your product is not yet good enough - people will not come back to it -

and you won't earn very much. Would you go back to a restaurant that served you

cold rice, bitter fruit or soup that was too salty? Of course not.

So first, get into the kitchen and experiment with some different recipes. Try it

on your family and close friends. If your food is yucky and even if it poisons them,

they will forgive you. That's what family and friends are for! So invite your friends to

check out your blog posts, and keep trying different things on them -- and if they tell

you they like it, you're starting to get somewhere.

Getting your product to be good takes some time and practice -- like everything else

in life. If you are already making moneywithoutadvertising - that's a very good sign

that people are liking your product and are coming back to it. Which means it may

make sense to begin to invest into ads to promote your blogs and accelerate your

success - but only if you take a long-term approach and aren't looking to double your

money every day or week -- like people look to do at a gambling casino.

Remember that learning how to create good ads is also a learned behavior.

Your first ads, just like your first blog post, will not be very good or effective. You will

need to try different ads and point them to different posts, and pay attention to your

results, before you can be successful at them.

It's like learning to walk. You need to fall down a good number of times beforeyou learn the art of walking. Does that mean that it's hard to be successful with ads?

No, but you need to be patient and you have to really want to succeed- or you won't

keep trying for long enough to succeed.

Let me ask you something: how long would you give your small child before

you give up on him trying to walk? You're thinking: "are you crazy? I would never

give up on him until he walks!"

That's the spirit. If you want to be successful at anything, you have to be okwith failing and falling until you succeed. That's why billions of people on this planet

can walk - even though, at first glance, it seems like it might seem difficult to balance

yourself on two legs and move forward -- all without falling on your face.

Becoming successful on fanbox is not like gambling or a "get rick quick"

scheme. You are building a business and, as such, you need to try different products

(blog posts) to see what works and what does not, and try different ads to see what

works and what does not. Through trial and error, over time you will get better and

better at figuring out the best way - for you - to create excellent posts that your

readers truly enjoy - and ads that they want to click on.

When they do click on your ads - they need to arrive at a product (your post)

that matches the expectation you set in your ad and that they will enjoy. If your ad

promises world cup scores - and gets a great click rate -- but when users click and

land in your post, they get baseball and basketball scores, or world cup scores that

are not up-to-date, they will leave and never come back. So you need to make sure

that you're not fooling yourself with good click-rates that aren't really bringing you

happy, "hooked" customers that are liking the overall experience that you're

providing - from ad to blog post.

The very best case situation is where people like your product, and a result they

become a fan of you, follow your blogs, and click "like" -- which instantly sends your

post to their fans and friends. When that starts happening for you, i am confident

that over the long-term, you can create a highly profitable media business that you

can be proud of.

If you are looking to make some quick money with your posts or ads -- fanbox

is not the right place for you -- because it simply wasn't built to do that. That's like

going to an insurance company and asking for pizza. As much as they might like toaccommodate you - it's simply not what they do or are good at. I mean, do you really

want overpriced food that you pay for upfront, and then when it comes time to get

When you send in your w-9, make sure you add your physical address and also

Everyone: i am not an adviser, but i believe that any money you

spent on fanbox ads should be deducted from your taxable earnings!!! In

How do fanbox blogger compensation algorithms work?

Fanbox's compensation algorithms for bloggers are highly proprietary, as

many millions of dollars and thousands of man (person) years of engineering time

have gone into them.

These algorithms are also very complicated (fanbox has over 25 patent filings

that are pending, and a half dozen of them were just awarded a few weeks ago by the

u.s. patent office) and i personally do not know or understand every single detail --

just like no one (outside of a small handful of google's engineers) truly understands

all the details of how google's algorithms work for search.

I do know a few things, and i will detail them here - with the help of a couple

of the fanbox engineers and continue to update this post as i learn more.

This topic deserves a post because it's painful to see people wasting their

valuable time and energy trying things to generate earnings that simply don't work --

instead of using their time to do the things that do.

Here are a couple of key points:#1 going to each other's blogs (whether you leave a comment or not) in order

to "give them love" or "time in blog" does absolutely nothing (as in zero, zilch, nada)

for you. In fact, it could actually have a negative effect.

I simply can't stress enough how useless this type of activity is -- but somehow

you still see people going around to each other's blogs and leaving messages like

"done" or "visited" or "visit my blogs please".

In fact, the people that seem to be the most frustrated, also appear to be thesame people, by far, that are doing exactly that. It makes sense that they are

frustrated -- because they are working so hard at doing the wrong things, and

accomplishing nothing, so of course they are feeling discouraged.

I wish i could reach them all, shake them, and ask them what it would take for

them to stop hurting themselves (wasting their time and frustrating themselves) with

those silly behaviors - when the way to generate earnings (that actually works) is

pretty darn clear, and simple (ill get into that, in a moment).

#2 the other thing that does not work, is sending your blog url around to

others on fanbox -- by sending personal messages to one or lots of people, or posting

it in their or your own feed, or posting it into comments anywhere including in blogs,

photos, and anywhere/everywhere else on fanbox.

Again, it is so painful to watch people doing these activities - when it should be

clear after the very first time they try it - that it does precisely zero for their earning

abilities -- and -- actually has at least four (4) negative impacts on their earning

capabilities:

a) when people feel that you are spamming them -- they click "spam" in

their inbox or visit your profile to report you from there.

These signal the algorithms - which use that signal to depreciate your earnings

- not to mention suspend or delete your account for the worst offenders. Nobody

likes receiving junk like "read my blog: url"...When you do that, people think why should i read your blog? All you're

getting me to do is make sure i definitely ignore all blogs from you - including the one

you just sent me -- and report you as a spammer.

b) when you send people spam or things they find useless, in order to

protect their valuable time, they stop being your fan or friend. This means that, from

that point forward, they wont receive all future posts from your blogs -- reducing

your future earnings.Each time someone removes you as fan or friend, the algorithms receive that

signal too.

c) even if they don't report you or click spam or stop being your fan or

friend, people mentally "tune you out" - making a subconscious note to ignore future

things from you. Again, this has a negative impact on your future earnings.

and once again, believe it or not, the algorithms watch how ignored your

posts are -- and use that information as variables in their calculations.

d) lastly, here's an important point for those who might attempt to cheat:

When someone attempts to cheat on fanbox, rather than deleting the account,

the algorithms mark the account for deletion -- but they often don't actually delete

the account until weeks or even a few months later -- in order to create maximum

frustration for the cheater.

If cheating appears to be working for someone -- just you wait. A few days,

weeks or even months later, once their account is gone -- well, do me a favor and tell

them this for me: "i told you so".

Wow, that sounds like a lot of things to worry about -- and we haven't even

begun to scratch the surface of how the algorithms really do their thing.

So what should you worry about as you look to build your audience and

earnings on fanbox?

the answer is really simple:

Dont worry about anything!

Yes, thats right. The point of those complicated algorithms is to make life

easy for you, while keeping earnings fair so that you can actually earn money by

blogging.

Without the algorithms, you would make just as much money for your blogson fanbox as you would just about elsewhere -- which is approximately $0.00.

So, don't even think about the algorithms, and focus your limited time &

energy (and unlimited creativity & passion) on:

1) 1) making new posts and updating prior ones to keep them fresh;

2) 2) you can use fanbox ads to accelerate your audience and community-

building efforts so long as you have a long-term approach in mind.

As ive detailed in some of my other posts there are a lot of other things youcould be doing, but i am convinced by watching the trials, errors and successes of

many of you, that those two efforts by far will bring you more success than posting

your blog url to facebook, fanbox and other sites; driving people to your profile, or

any other activity.

thats it!Algorithm, smalgorithm! As long as you do those 2 things (make

quality posts and promote them when theyre ready) i beg you to trust me on this

you will be rewarded.

friend is selling you on to accelerate things - you will only frustrate yourself like

many of our dear friends have found.

Believe it or not, sometimes the simple way is what actually works

best.
