Tips for a Successful Conference Experience
Invite yourself along to meet others at the
Conference. Make it a point to join a new group for a meal.
Use your name badge. Review the the ribbons that participants are
wearing that display their associations with MWACE to determine a connection with them. Look when you check in for the “New Member” or
“First Time Attendee” ribbon for your nametag.
Things to Avoid
Isolation in the breakout sessions, join in
the discussions! Feeling like you don’t know anyone, make
it a practice to meet new people at the Conference!
Getting overwhelmed, target the specific
sessions you want to attend or people you
want to meet.
Keeping great ideas to yourself, speak up
when you have an opportunity!
Things to Avoid
Being lonely, join sessions or groups of your
interest!
Not being heard, make it a point to comment during
sessions and meetings with your ideas!
Falling out of touch, get business cards/contact
information and keep in touch after the Conference.
Steering clear of vendors; they can provide
information on new ideas you may want to consider.
