Changing Results For Young Readers
• assists with design and support throughout the initiative
• provide resource support to the Early Reading Facilitators and Early Reading Advocates in specific research areas
1. Provincial Early Reading Resource Team
• strong backgrounds in literacy, reading, inquiry-based change, and
demonstrated capacity for facilitation
• co-facilitate District Early Reading Learning
Teams
• support Early Reading Advocates
2. Provincial Early Reading Facilitators
3. District Early Reading Advocates
• one or two Early Reading Advocates (ERAs) from each district
• work with district staff to identify 2 – 4 schools
with the highest levels of vulnerable readers
• co-facilitate Early Reading Learning Team meetings with the ER Facilitator
• liaise with school leaders (principals/vice-principals)
4. District Early Reading Learning Teams
• includes 6 – 12 teachers/resource (support) staff
• resource teachers work in the classrooms
• districts may choose to select 2 – 4 schools with 3 teachers from each school
•school leaders (P/VP) are encouraged to participate
• districts use the Education Plan Funding to provide 7 ½ day release times to participants
5. Provincial Research Design Team
• designs the framework for data collection, resolve technical issues and analyze the data
• impact will be assessed utilizing the BC Reading Performance Standards
• August 27/28 Hilton Hotel, Richmond
