Design to improve. Design with culture. Two member group project: In Barcelona, Spain, the 22@ district of the cerda plan is in a period of renewal. This particular square block is home to many run down warehouses, apartments, and home to the passatge de masoliver. We built apon this block to create a more suitable passagte for pedesterians as well as bring a community civic center to the area. This involved removing unused warehouses as well as keeping some historical aspects to keep with the catalan cultural context. The result was a three building civic center that occupied existing struc-ture as well as developing a new roof morphology to cover the path.

Think in section. Think about the future. Two member group project: In collaboration with the architecture rm,Productora, we designed a mass housing structure for the distant distopian future. We designed the building in section view because the whole structure is constructed underground. Massive glass pyramids penetrate the ground that create a source of light and collect water.

Design wellness. Two member group project: In order to bring wellness to the local senior citizens of Bryan, TX, we designed a senior community center. This building boasts large naturally lit spaces that includes an aquatic center, interior courtyard, and a chiropractor. While being modern in design, some elements, like the roofs, stay true to the surroundingneighborhood. . Clay study models

SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER PARK AMPHITHEATER spring 2012
Use the site.An individual project: I personally chose to do this projectbecause I wanted to design a structure for the communitythat mainly involved the outdoors. I chose a site I visited in Barcelona, called Parc Crueta de Coll, to build an outdooramphitheater to house local festivities. By using light-weight materials, I was able to design a structure that would take advantage of the site’s topography to reect sound.
CENTER FOR THE DISPLACED spring 2012
Help the community.Individual project: I personally chose to do this project in order to design for the less fortunate. This Center for the Displaced is a refuge for those who have lost their home due to nancial or natural disaster reasons. By using the center as a community center as well, those who are less fortunate have an opportunity to regain a foothold in the community. The center is divided into a large living facility, health clinic, church, and administration. The exterior matches the surrounding buildings as well as adding some abstract elements to the facade of the church.
ELDERLY HOUSING UNIT spring 2012
Personalize healthcare.Individual project: I personally chose to do this project in order to bring a more person-alized feeling to healthcare for the elderly. The idea is to change the social norm of elderly care to make living spaces more comfortable for the users. This unit was designed to make everything from the interior to the exterior personalized depending on the user’s health condition and personality. Built with a lightweight frame, interchangeable panels make up the exterior walls that can vary from brick to wood siding. The interior walls consist of partitions that can be moved easily.
