BIOGRAPHY Chattanooga, Tennessee native Matt Chancey has a great passion for music that can be felt and heard in the music he plays. At 21 years old, the self-made Indie Soul artist writes and plays a wide array of music, but all of it with a certain soulful fire. Hearing Chancey play the guitar is an experience all on it’s own because of the unique blend of blues, jazz, rock, and finger style. It appears as if the guitar operates just an extension of himself and his voice. Chancey sings with an old school raspy voice and often blues
and jazz style phrasing that could have been heard in the Motown era or a 70’s rock band. Channeling a lot of his musical influences such as Otis Redding, Johnny Lang, Dave Matthews and John Mayer, a unique musical voice comes to life. Chancey is able to draw from many different playing styles and that gives him an edge and appeal that draws many into his musical world and will keep them coming back for more. But more than that, Matt is an artist who has stage presence.

He is a musician who plays music and sings of experiences that many people can relate to almost as if the songs were written for them personally. Many of the tracks on his latest EP Hazard 19 combined indie rock, soul and blues. Hazard 19 and Chancey’s first EP The Unsaid Sang combined with many noteworthy covers give his performances a wide range of appeal to fans of any age that enjoy a broader type of soul music, one that incorporates a variety of genres. In the last two years he has had the opportunity to play in venues all over
the country from right here in Tennessee to California, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Oregon, Texas and others. No matter the venue the music is just as genuine and memorable.
