• 1. Is the disease a public health problem?
– More than one percent of the population is affected
• 2. Can the disease be prevented?
– Is there evidence for effective ways of health promotion and prevention?
• 3. What can be done in health care?
– Health promotion, prevention (primary and secondary), early diagnostics (screening), treatment, palliation care.
• 4. What can we learn from each other in different counties?

– Colon cancer: No, but cancer as such is a public health problem
• 2. Can the disease be prevented?
– Primary prevention to change lifestyle. Cereals might protect, red meat might affect the development.
– Secondary prevention, part as treatment (tobacco use, alcohol, over weight, physical activity).
• 3. What can be done in health care?
– Health promotion, prevention, early diagnostics (screening), treatment, palliative care.
