what it will be…
Science Question: How can you identify objects in your
house? This week, we would like you to use a
technique scientists use to classify things called
classification. See Week 4’s enquiry below.
Why not try making your own

Week 4 Home Learning- Maths
Consolidation: Times Tables
Task 1- Revise all multiplication facts up to 12X12. Can you complete the below
chart by filling in the blank products (answers to multiplication calculations).
Task 2- Play multiplication games with your family members to improve your rapid
recall, remember you have to work strategically to win.
Task 3 – Login to TT Rock Stars to improve your rapid recall of multiplication facts.
The quicker you can recall the more points you receive.
Using what you already know to find out what you don’t know
For example:
-I know 5x5= 25 so I know 10x 5= 50 because double 5 is 10 and double 25 is 50.
-I know 8x3= 24 so I know 4x3= 12 because half of 8 is 4 and half of 24 is 12.
-I know 12 x 10 = 120 because I know 10x10= 100 and 2 x 10= 20, 10+2 =12 and 100
+ 20 = 120.
If you are ever stuck on a multiplication calculation, always think what do I already
know?
Maths Task 1
Task 2- Multiplication games
You are going to be pracising your 7 times tables. Therefore your first factor will be 7. Then, Roll 2 dice.
Add them together eg) 3 + 2 = 5. Your calculation is 5 X 7. Find the product (answer) 35 and colour
it in. Take turns with your partner. The first to get 4 in a row wins.
Task 2- Multiplication Games
The game is for 2 players.
Each player takes it in turn to choose 3 numbers in a line (either horizontal or vertical) where
the numbers create a multiplication calculation E.g. 2 5 10 would be 2 x 5 = 10. The play continues
until one person can’t create a line of 3, thus losing the game.

Task 3
Imagine you are in the crowd watching your favourite rock star
perform. Think about what you can see/ hear / feel etc. What are the
people in front of you doing? What can you see in the distance?
Create a ‘mind map’ in your books like we do for WOW writes about
what you can see / hear etc.
Once you have completed your mind map, think of how you can use
your ideas in sentences. We have included some sentence openers to get
you started and a reminder of some conjunctions you could use.
(because, although, when, while, but , as , after, etc)
Examples:
When the guitarist started to play, the crowd went as wild as
…………….
Balancing on a metal fence just metres from me was ……..
The atmosphere was …………………….because…………
Before the sun set ……………………………..
Task: Using your sentence ideas, write a descriptive paragraph
about the image above.

Summer Term Science Week 4:
Enquiry Type - Identifying and Classifying
Question
How can you identify objects in your house?
Select at least 10-15 random objects in your house. Consider how they are
similar and how they are different to each other.
Challenge About this type of Scientific Enquiry
Research Carl Linneaus who created the
system of taxonomy, which is how we
classify living things.

Identifying and classifying is how we can make
sense and order of the world around us. This
enquiry type requires using observation and
reasoning skills.
Examples of classifying include how we classify
animals (into mammals, reptiles etc), plants and
foods.
Identifying and classifying is used by scientists
to help learn about the natural world.

Create a classification key to identify
your selected objects.eg:
