When we provide students with multiple opportunities to read and to write, and when we actively and assertively teach to their best efforts, their literacy and/ or math development astonishes us! Their families can tell a difference, the data shows the growth —and most importantly, the students will be proud and feel good about themselves and their education. Positivity is equally as contagious as negativity! We have already gathered multiple sources of mid year data—let’s remember to be intentional with plans to share it with our students and use it to guide our instruction!

January Positive Climate and Culture Focus The teacher:

Embrace challenges (because excuses distract). Choose truth (because drama drains).

Create solutions (because complaints bore). Friendly Reminders:

Please communicate “Testing” with a sign on your classroom door during MAP testing times.

Electronically sign your Federal Time and Effort on the Intranet.

If you have not taken 5 Essential survey, please do so this week.

Class meetings are still to be used throughout the week to build and maintain classroom community.

All evaluations need to be completed by January 30th. If you are absent or we have a “cold/snow day” on your scheduled evaluation day, the evaluation will be the same time or instructional block the next day.

Continue showing VLB in math even with a sub! A laptop for subs to check out is available in the office.

Remember to take care of yourself! The water challenge continues—-along with eating veggies!

If you are interested in any workshops or professional learning in Illinois, please talk to Kathy. We have funds for in state PD.

Keep your data tool updated with formative assessment results!

Keep the student work displayed in the hallway updated and relevant! Think about the impression visitors have when they look at what is posted in the hallways and in our classrooms.

Engaging activities teaching students about Martin Luther King, Jr.!

Great Classroom Ideas:

WEDNESDAY PROFESSIONAL LEARNING 2:45PM-4:15PM

This Wednesday is for intentional grade level collaboration. Please communicate with grade level teams and record your work on your grade level google doc.
