Focus and Coherence:
Materials must focus coherently on the Major Work of the grade in a way that is consistent with the progressions in the Standards.

IMETReviewer Comments Excerpt
The resource is nicely laid out for the teacher - the lessons lead into one another and provide a nice sequence. The curriculum is scripted for inexperienced teachers. Several assessments are provided to consistently evaluate student learning - exit quizzes, mid module assessment and end of module assessment.
I think this material could be used in a general 6th grade math classroom. The teacher material is written so that a teacher at any level would find it useful. The mathematical practices and how they will appear in the unit are specifically addressed in the teacher materials.

Reviewer Comments Excerpts Printing all the lessons can be costly as there is a lot of white space on the pages for students to do work.
Limited number of problems sets to allow for differentiation.
Add more practice or resources for practice.
Add some extension activities/problems

IMETReviewer Comments ExcerptsThis curriculum is very well developed and you can tell that they had the common core in mind when writing it. There is a very clear progression of ideas throughout the curriculum from chapter to chapter. Great mix of types of problems that get more complex and use a variety of skills. Material is easily accessed.
Teacher materials are great with explanation! They state exactly what students should learn in regards to the topic and why students need to master something for the next grade level.

Equip – Ratio and Proportion
Reviewer Comments ExcerptsThere were no summative assessments.
There was little if any material to offer support to ELL or below grade level students. Also little opportunity for the more advanced student to learn at a deeper level.
Suggest the addition of mid-unit and end-of-unit assessments.
Suggest the addition of materials to support a more broad range of learners.

IMETReviewer Comments Excerpts
The structure of the lessons is easy to follow. All lessons begin with a problem, presentation of concepts, guided practice, more practice, and supplemental video.
The online practice problems are adaptive and extensive. The content is solid for the areas that are covered - Strong, accurate explanations of mathematical concepts.
More than half of the lessons address non-grade 8 materials - lessons on percent, probability, integers, and polynomials

No teacher/pacing guides or assessments present. No rubrics or answers for student materials were present.
Design lessons that allow students to develop deeper conceptual understanding.
Major revision to curriculum to encourage more use of models, exploration, and use of discourse.
Include summative assessments for lesson that meet 8th grade Common Core standards and add some extension activities/problems
