Students will implement personal and interpersonal skills to prepare for a rapidly evolving workplace environment. Students will enhance reading, writing, computing, communication, and reasoning skills and apply them to the information technology environment. Course Objectives: Link to TEKS: PIT TEKS Students will be expected to: 1. Demonstrate the necessary skills for career development, employability, and successful completion of course outcomes; 2. Identify various employment opportunities in the information technology field. 3. Use emerging technologies to exchange information. 4. Demonstrate knowledge of the hardware components associated with information systems. 5. Demonstrate knowledge of the different software associated with information systems. 6. Analyze network systems. 7. Apply word-processing technology. 8. Apply spreadsheet technology. 9. Apply database technology. 10. Apply presentation management technology. 11. Apply design and web publishing techniques. 12. Understand and demonstrate legal and ethical procedures as they apply to the use of information technology. Tutoring Times: I am here to help you be successful. I will be available for tutoring every Wednesday morning from 6:30 to 7:00 am. and Thursday afternoons from 2:15– 2:45pm. I will also be available by appointment. Students are required to document tutorial attendance on a log-in sheet provided by teachers.

Tardies:The consequences for student tardiness will be published in the classroom. When the bell sounds, I will close and lock my door. Students must then report to tardy stations for a pass and entry to my class.

Consequences for Tardies1st -8th Documented Warning9th & 10th 2 Hour Detention*** 2nd Semester Exemptions Are Allowed After This Point***11th & 14th 4 Hour Saturday Detention Hall & Attendance Contract15th Parent Conference & 1 Day ISS16th+ ISS Placement with Possible Suspension or ALA PlacementNOTE: Tardy counts are reset each semester

Grading Policy:• Daily Grades: 40% of your final grade.At least two daily grades will be given each week. At least 18 daily grades will be given for each 9week grading period. Daily grades include warm ups, homework, quizzes, daily participation, exit slips, work ethic and other daily activities.• Major Grades: 60% of your final grade.At least one major grade will be given every two weeks. At least 4 major grades will be given for each9 week grading period. Major grades include tests and projects. Details, including due dates, for testsand projects will be announced.• Late Work: In order to ensure that a student’s grade reflects mastery of the TEKS, I will accept latework. However, up to a 20% penalty may be accessed.• Make Up Work: A student is responsible for obtaining and completing make-up work.• No single assignment will count for more than 20% of a student’s grade.• Assignments will be graded, recorded, and returned within three days of collecting. Extensive writtenassignments including essays, projects and/or individual evaluations may take up to ten days for me toevaluate, record, and return the assignments.• Parents will be notified if a student has a cumulate grade below a 75 in this class.

Parent/Student and Teacher Communication Please communicate with me by e-mail when there are any questions or concerns. A personal meeting or phone call can always be scheduled when it is required. You will receive periodic e-mail updates regarding pertinent information. Please utilize Family Access, Edmodo and the Turner website to stay updated.
