Hey y’all,

For your first exam/assignment, I would like you to write a paper one of the topics:

(a) Cryptography in the Arab world to the fifteenth century.(b) European cryptography in the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries.(c) Cryptography and cryptanalysis in Elizabethan England.(d) Cryptography and cryptanalysis in World War I.(e) Cryptography and cryptanalysis in World War II.(f) Give arguments, both pros and cons, for the following assertion:

If the governement is able to convince a court that there is a valid reason for theirrequest, then they should have access to an individual’s private keys (even without the

individual’s knowledge), in the same way that the government is allowed to conductcourt authorized secret wiretaps in cases of suspected criminal activity or threats to

national security.

(g) Cryptography and cryptanalysis after Diffie-Hellman (this is very broad).(h) Cryptography and cryptanalysis as munitions in the US during the 1990s.
