Material:This course is going to cover the entire text. The course will start with a review of topics covered inElementary Algebra, and will proceed to cover the study of Algebraic Expressions and their operations,Exponents, Factoring, Rational Expressions, Linear Equations, Inequalities, System of Equations,Functions, Quadratic Equations, Matrices, Determinants, Exponential and LogarithmicFunctions.

Tests

There will be 5 in class exams 100 points each, and in class final exam (cumulative) will be200 points. There will be no make up exams given. A missed test will be considered a dropped grade.Calculatorsmay not be used on any of the test. The [mal grade will be assigned based on thefollowing percentage scale: A= 90-100%, B= 78-89%, C= 60-77%, D=50-59%, F=0-49%.All steps must be shown on the problems to receive full credit.

Homework assi2nmentsHomework will be assigned and checked on day of every test. Failure to turn in homework willresult in lowering your grade. Each chapter (homework assignments) will be worth 2 points. All stepsmust be shown on the homework problems to receive points.

Attendance

Regular and on-time attendance is required. Attendance will be recorded each class meeting. Anystudent missing ten or more hours of classroom instruction in a 5-unit course will be drop. Ifyou wish to do well in this class you can not afford to be absent! Please inform me(my mailbox is # 304) about an absence whether it is planned or an emergency.

Note: 1.5 points will be given every class meeting for attendance.

Important notesFor the final grade homework and class participation and attendance will determine for borderlinecases. Homework will be evaluated for completion only. My tests are entirely based upon thelectures and. materials presented in class. I regularly give out the hints on test questions and solvesample problems during my lectures. Therefore. missing my lectures will put you at adisadvantage when it is time to. take my tests.Please let me know if you decide to stop attending the class.
