Thematernal bond(ormotherly bond) is typically therelationship between amotherand herchild.Meaning: Maternal Infant Bonding means the core relationship between mother and childDefinition: Maternal Infant Bonding means the reciprocal relationship between mother and child

Attachment: By John Bowlby Attachment behaviour is any form of behaviour which results in person obtaining or retaining proximity to a differentiated or preferred individual.

While it typically occurs due topregnancyandchildbirth, it may also occur between a woman and an unrelated child, such as inadoption. There are hundreds of potential factors, both physical and emotional, which can influence the mother-childbondingprocess.

Many new mothers do not always experience the "instantly-in-mother-love" emotions. Bonding is a gradually unfolding experience that can take hours, days, weeks, or even months to develop.

Developmental Sequence in Bonding First step: The infant develops a sense of individuation as a result of his own hunger pains, his sensation of warmth and cold, his visual perceptions.
