Biography – Sam Carr
Sam is the Manager of Commercial Operations for Kentucky Utilities at the EW Brown Station. He has been with Louisville Gas & Electric and Kentucky Utilities (sister companies) for 34 years and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. While at LG&E and KU, Sam held various job titles in engineering, operations, maintenance, and supply chain working solely in the power plant environment. Job titles included: Sr. Chemical Engineer, Operations Supervisor, and Manager Commercial Ops. Recently Sam led many collaborative sourcing initiatives between LG&E / KU and their parent company, PPL, for their fossil stations.
Biography – Claire Lamb Claire recently took a position in Duke Energy’s Major Projects Sourcing, Field Operations organizations and remains based out of the Crystal River Energy Complex. She began her career in Supply Chain Management in 1986 and has held positions in Inventory Management, Warehousing, Shipping and Receiving as well as Purchasing and Contract Administration. In her current role, Claire is responsible for supply chain procurement, inventory management and warehousing in support of the Crystal River Unit 3 SAFSTOR organization. She also continues to manage inventory for five of the Florida Fossil and CT generating stations and identifies opportunities for inventory optimization through the implementation / expansion of programs such as Vendor Managed Inventory and Point of Issue Material. Claire remains a valued member of the RAPID Steering Committee and is committed to increasing the exchange of operational experience between all supply chain organizations in our industry.
Biography – Steve Dobson
Steve has twenty-five years of supply chain and finance experience in the utility industry with investor
owned, municipal and electric cooperative companies as well as experience in the medical
manufacturing and healthcare industries. He is currently the Manager, Materials for East Kentucky
Power Cooperative. Steve’s areas of interest are supply chain strategy, lean supply chain methods,
supply chain technology, strategic sourcing and safety. He holds an MBA from University of South
Florida and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from California State University.

many improvement opportunities and are constantly being asked to do more with less. This session
will focus on materials management success stories and key areas in your material management
operation that you would like to improve. We will discuss common challenges and how to
demonstrate value to your organization. During the Q&A you are invited to share your material
management success stories with your industry colleagues.
