Pump Design CharacteristicsLobePro pumps are manufactured in accordance with ANSI/HI 3.1-3.5-2008, API 676, ISO or special customer requested specifi cations and fully designed and manufactured in the USA from locally sourced parts. This ensures in-stock inventory and our guarantee of major parts shipped in 2 working days from acceptance of your order, as necessary. Service support is LobePro’s key objective.A two-year warranty for workmanship, and one year warranty on all parts for wear and tear in most applications. This warranty includes, but is not limited to mechanical seals, wear plates, housing segments, and lobes.Pump CastingsEach casting is designed and made in accordance with ASTM A48, Class 30.Wear plates are made of tungsten carbide coated abrasion resistant AISI AR400 steel and reversible/replaceable. Pump Housings are constructed to ASTM A48, Class 30 or AGI-600 gray iron for sludge/ non sludge applications and 316 stainless for corrosive duties. Other materials may be used as required by metallurgical testing.LobesSolid cast iron cores covered with Buna-N per ASTM D2240 specifi cations. Service and removal of the rotors can be completed without disturbing piping, bearings, or mechanical seals. ShaftsThe shafts are oversized and made of heavy duty alloy steel AISI A4140. Straight cut timing gears running in a separate oil chamber contains the ball and roller bearings for each shaft. To minimize torsional stress on the shafts, for pumps having a nominal 100 gallons/100 revolution or less rated capacity, the shaft diameter is at least 2.362” (60mm) and 3.346” (85mm) for pumps having a nominal rated capacity above 100 gallons/100 revolutions. The maximum allowed shaft defl ection shall not exceed 0.001 in. No step down shafts in the wetted end of the pump are used.SealsFor ease and simplicity of sealing integrity, only cartridge type seals are used. Heavy duty split Duronit V mechanical face seals are provided as a standard on each pump, or as requested. Each cartridge seal is pressure tested for static and dynamic pressures before fi nal installation. Component type mechanical seals that use bushings to permanently place the seals are not used. Stainless steel seal holders for waste water sludge applications are utilized for prolonged corrosion and chemical resistance. Lobepro does not use, or recommend seal holders that are coated only with black oxide. LobePro pumps do not use or recommended packed glands and external fl ushing for lubrication and cooling. Quench Chamber A quench chamber is located behind the mechanical seal, and in front of the bearing housing lip seal and molded into the casting of the pump. This chamber is used to ensure seal integrity throughout pump operation and allows for visual inspection of the status of the mechanical seals. The quench chamber does not require pressurizing in any way. Some competing systems require the user to routinely and continuously manually pressurize the quench chamber in order to prevent seal leaks and product contamination. LobePro does not utilize or recommend this style of manual pressurization system.FlangesStandard ASME/ANSI B16.5-150 # fl anges are offered. VibrationDoes not exceed the limits allowed by the Hydraulic Institute.Bearings are sized to withstand the maximum radial or axial load carried by the shafts for continuous duty. The L10, bearing life in hours of rotary lobe pumps running at steady or constant speed, load, pressure and temperature shall have 100,000 hours minimum. The minimum bearing life in hours for pumps with loads that are operated with variable frequency drive shall at least be 50,000 hours. GearsGears conform to AISI 1045 specifi cations and meet AGMA Class 9 as a minimum. Certifi cationLobePro is ISO 9001:2008 certifi ed.
