December 40 THE INSIDER interview: MOLLie MCGUiGAn HOW LONG HAVE YOU RUN JALOUSE FOR? We opened Jalouse in October 2008 and the club is definitely here to stay. We now have a huge following, not only in the UK but also in France, Monaco, Switzerland and Greece. Jalouse is at the highest end, in terms of clubbing and we have a huge celebrity following – the likes of Mariah Carey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sienna Miller, Josh Hartnett, Will.I.am, Geri Halliwell, Mickey Rourke, Paris Hilton, Philip Green and Kelly Brook to name a few, have all partied at the club. We have over 1,000 members. DESCRIBE A TYPICAL DAY FOR YOU I am up at 8.30am most days and leave home at around 9.30am to go to one of my two offices in central London. I am on the road a lot viewing sites as I am involved in land and property development. I almost always lunch with my business partners and clients. I live alone so I dine out most nights with friends. I try to attend the club at least once a week. I am away a lot so this is not always possible but when I am in town I socialise with friends at Jalouse. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BAR? The bar at the Connaught Hotel; the Purple Bar at the Sanderson is the best place for a cocktail. TELL US YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO EAT? La Petite Maison in Mayfair. WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE CELEBRITY MEMBER? I like most of the well-known faces that come to the club, but in terms of meeting and socialising, more often than most, I enjoy Leo’s company and Mickey’s. They both have a great sense of humour and most of all, [they] are always very humble and polite. WHO IS YOUR FANTASY GUEST? Gisele Bündchen, for obvious reasons! SHOULD YOU TIP A BARMAN? Hampstead or Primrose Hill. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE JOB? I am a great motivator and I love getting the best out of people. I like pushing people to achieve what they feel is beyond their ability. Seeing people succeed is the best part. WHAT’S THE WORST PART OF YOUR JOB? The worst part is hiring and firing. I am very passionate about everything I do and always seek perfection. Many people don’t and I hate that. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE FESTIVE COCKTAIL? Any cocktail with Champagne in it works for me. I like Krug with anything! WHERE WILL YOU BE SPENDING CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR? For the past few years I have been spending Christmas and the new near in Uruguay. It is very laid back and is not full of the usual jetsetters and I can’t be tempted by too many parties! Christmas holidays are a time for me to switch off my phones and forget about everything. How long Have you run Jalouse for?We opened Jalouse in October 2008 and the club is definitely here to stay.
