◆ Educational Philosophy of the Graduate School of Global Food Resources ◆

The Graduate School of Global Food Resources is tasked with growing international leaders who can understand, offer and realize specific solutions for the diversified, multi-layered food resource problems faced by the world. The aim of the graduate school is therefore to develop experts with a wide-ranging knowledge that enables them to understand global food resource problems from a comprehensive perspective, as well as practical expertise in solving these problems, through advanced, interdisciplinary and comprehensive education that integrates the humanities and sciences.

◆ Admission Policy ◆

Under the four basic principles of Hokkaido University, namely, Frontier Spirit, Global Perspectives, All-round Education and Practical Learning, the Graduate School of Global Food Resources is awaiting applications from students who: • wish to acquire both broad perspectives on a global scale as well as a deep understanding of local regions. • are aware of the importance of food, water, and land resources necessary for a 21st century survival strategy. • are noble of spirit and can forfeit personal gain for the sake of making a contribution to human society.

We particularly wish the following students to apply: 1. Those with a desire to comprehend and solve problems from both humanitarian and scientific perspectives. 2. Those who wish to receive practical hands-on education both in domestic and international settings. 3. Those who are eager to search for, discover, solve, recommend and examine problems themselves. 4. Those with a pioneering spirit and desire to succeed in a global society. 5. Those with the determination to develop communication skills, teamwork skills, and the ability to take action. 6. 2. Examinations (1) Preliminary Review of Application Qualifications: Each applicant will undergo preliminary review based

on the application qualifications before taking the examination. (2) Examination: Individuals who meet the application qualification requirements will then be evaluated

based on their application documents as well as e-mail and web interviews.

3. Application Qualifications 3-1. Basic Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications:

(1) Individuals who have graduated or expect to graduate from a university by March 2021. (2) Individuals who have been awarded or expect to be awarded a degree pursuant to Article 104, Clause 4, of the

School Education Act of Japan. (3) Individuals who have completed at least 16 years of school and higher education in a foreign country. (4) Individuals who have completed at least 16 years of education in correspondence course subjects provided by

foreign educational systems in Japan. (5) Individuals who have completed their education at educational institutions in Japan that are recognized as the

equivalent of a university by a foreign country (limited to individuals who have completed 16 years of education in a foreign country) and designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology of Japan (hereinafter, referred to as “MEXT”).

(6) Those who have completed or are expected to complete a degree in a foreign country or at an overseas educational institution (including those who have completed or are expected to complete a study program provided by an overseas educational institution by way of distance study program while residing in Japan, as well as those who have completed or are expected to complete a study program at a designated educational institution, as provided for in item (5), that is recognized as being equivalent to a university in a foreign country) and have been awarded or are expected to be awarded a bachelor’s or equivalent degree by March 31, 2021.

(7) Individuals who have completed a specialized course at a specialized training college on or after the date determined by MEXT. (The course is required to be designated by the Minister, and the course term needs to be four years or longer. [The course must also meet other standards established by the Minister.])

(8) Individuals designated by MEXT. (1953 Notice No. 5, Ministry of Education, Science and Culture)

(9) Individuals who have attended a university for three years or longer or individuals who apply to one of the following: • Those who have completed 15 years of school and higher education in foreign countries. • Those who have completed 15 years of education in correspondence course subjects provided by foreign

educational systems in Japan. • Those who have completed a foreign university’s coursework at an educational institution in Japan that is

positioned within the school education system of that foreign country as an educational body with a university course. (Completion of the coursework must be considered equivalent to the completion of 15 years of school education in that foreign country. The educational institution must also be designated by MEXT.)

All individuals who meet this qualification must also be deemed by this graduate school to have achieved excellent grades in the prescribed subjects.

(10) Individuals who are recognized by the graduate school to have equivalent or greater academic skills compared to those of a university graduate based on an individual admission qualification screening, and who will be 22 years of age as of March31, 2021*. *This qualification applies to those who do not have the qualifications of a university graduate, such as a graduate of a national college of technology, junior college, specialized training college, or other types of schools, as well as graduates of Japanese branch schools of foreign universities or foreign schools.

3-2. Requirements: Applicants must fulfill the following requirements: ・ Applicants are required to have a coefficient of the final academic grade of over 2.30 (3.00 as the full score).

5. Preliminary Review of Application Qualification

All documents listed in Section 4 above must be submitted between September 11(Fri.) and 17 (Thu.), 2020 (except on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays).

If mailing your application, mark the outside of the envelope, “Admission application materials for international students applying for Graduate School of Global Food Resources Master’s Course” in red ink, and send it by simplified registered mail (it must arrive at the university during the application period). If applying from overseas, send your application by EMS or registered airmail.

Submitted documents will not be returned. 6. Application Period (for payment of Entrance Examination Fee)

Applicants who have passed the Preliminary Review of Application Qualification must apply by paying the entrance examination fee during the following designated period. (1) Application (entrance examination fee payment) must be made between October 7 (Wed.) and 13 (Tue.), 2020. (2) Total amount of JPY 30,500 (including the entrance examination fee of JPY 30,000 and processing fee of JPY

500) must be paid through the online application (payment) system during the above-mentioned period. Detailed information on the online system will be provided to individual applicants who have passed the preliminary review. *Government-funded international students, China Scholarship Council (CSC)-supported students and Hokkaido

University President’s Fellowship international students are exempted from paying the examination fee. * After the application materials are accepted, the paid examination fee shall not be refunded for any reason except in the following cases: [Cases in which the examination fee can be refunded] 1) Cases in which the examination fee is paid but an application is not made (application materials are not

submitted or the application is not accepted). 2) Cases in which the examination fee is paid twice.

3) Cases in which the examination fee is paid by those who are exempt from the payment. 7. Examination

(1) Examination period: between October 16 (Fri.) and November 13 (Fri.), 2020 (2) Content of the examination: e-mail and web (e.g., Skype) interview

* In web interviews, applicants have to make their presentation on the contents of both of your previous study, and the research plan after your admission to the course, by using such as PowerPoint. Applicants need to secure a communication environment with good audio and visual conditions for the time frame specified by the university.

8. Announcement of the Examination Results

The results will be e-mailed to applicants individually at 4:00 p.m. (subject to change) on November 26 (Thu.), 2020. The university will not answer any inquiries about the examination results by phone or e-mail.

9. Enrollment Fee and Tuition

(1) Enrollment fee: JPY 282,000 (2) First-semester tuition: JPY 267,900 (annual total: JPY 535,800)

Note: The above amounts are estimates. If these figures are revised at the time of admission or during enrollment, the new amounts will apply as of the time of revision.

10. Privacy Policy ・ Names, addresses, and other personal information provided to the university on application documents will be

used solely to select enrollees, announce the exam results, and for admission procedures. The personal information of those who are accepted for admission shall also be used for administrative purposes after enrollment (student registration, academic counseling, etc.), student support services (health management, scholarship applications, etc.), and administrative tasks related to tuition, etc.

・ Among the personal information provided, only the names and addresses of applicants may be used to facilitate communications from Hokkaido University Frontier Foundation and Hokkaido University Athletic Union, which are organizations associated with the university.

・ The information will not be used for any other purposes than those mentioned above.

◆ 大学院国際食資源学院の教育目標 ◆

本学院では，世界が直面する多様かつ重層的な食資源問題を理解し，具体的な解決策を提示・実践で

きる国際的リーダーを養成する。そのため，先端的，学際的かつ総合的な文理融合型の教育研究を実施

し，世界の食資源問題を俯噉的にとらえることのできる幅広い知識と，問題解決を実践できる専門性を

２．入学者選抜方法 (1) 予備審査：出願書類により志願者の資格審査を行う。

(2) 入学者選抜：出願資格を有する志願者に対し，入学願書,成績証明書等の出願書類の内容及びメール

インタビュー並びにスカイプ等を用いた面談の結果を総合して決定する。

３．出願資格

３－１. 基礎資格：次のいずれかに該当すること。

(1) 大学を卒業した者及び令和３年３月卒業見込みの者

(2) 学校教育法第１０４条第４項の規定により，学士の学位を授与された者及び授与見込みの者

(3) 外国において学校教育における１６年の課程を修了した者

(4) 外国の学校が行う通信教育における授業科目を我が国において履修することにより当該外国の学校

教育における１６年の課程を修了した者 (5) 我が国において，外国の大学の課程(その修了者が当該外国の学校教育における１６年の課程を修了

したとされるものに限る。)を有するものとして当該外国の学校教育制度において位置付けられた教育

施設であって，文部科学大臣が別に指定するものの当該課程を修了した者

(6) 外国の大学その他の外国の学校（その教育研究活動等の総合的な状況について，当該外国の政府又

は関係機関の認証を受けた者による評価を受けたもの又はこれに準ずるものとして文部科学大臣が別に

指定するものに限る。）において，修業年限が３年以上である課程を修了すること（当該外国の学校が

行う通信教育における授業科目を我が国において履修することにより当該課程を修了すること及び当該

外国の学校教育制度において位置付けられた教育施設であって(5)の指定を受けたものにおいて課程を

修了することを含む。）により，学士の学位に相当する学位を授与された者

(7) 専修学校の専門課程(修業年限が４年以上であることその他の文部科学大臣が定める基準を満たすも

のに限る。)で文部科学大臣が別に指定するものを文部科学大臣が定める日以後に修了した者

(8) 文部科学大臣の指定した者（昭和２８年文部省告示第５号） (9) 大学に３年以上在学し，又は外国において学校教育における１５年の課程，外国の学校が行う通信教

育における授業科目を我が国において履修することにより当該外国の学校教育における１５年の課程若

しくは我が国において，外国の大学の課程(その修了者が当該外国の学校教育における１５年の課程を

修了したとされるものに限る。)を有するものとして当該外国の学校教育制度において位置付けられた

教育施設であって，文部科学大臣が別に指定するものの当該課程を修了し，本学院において，所定の単

位を優れた成績をもって修得したと認めた者 (10) 本学院において，個別の出願資格審査により，大学を卒業した者と同等以上の学力があると認めた

者で，令和３年３月３１日までに２２歳に達する者* ＊高等専門学校・短期大学の卒業者，専修学校・各種学校の卒業者，外国大学日本分校・外国人学校の卒業者など大学卒業資格を有していない者

３－２. 要件：次に掲げる要件に該当すること。

・ 最終学歴の学業成績係数（３点満点）が２．３０以上であること。

なお，最終学歴の学業成績係数（３点満点）が不明の者は北海道大学大学院国際食資源学院

（kyomu@agr.hokudai.ac.jp）に問い合わせること。

６．出願（検定料の納入）期間

予備審査に合格した者は，出願期間中に検定料を納入することにより出願を行うこと。 (1) 出願（検定料の納入）期間：令和２年１０月７日（水）から令和２年１０月１３日（火）【必着】ま

で。受理は午前９時から午後５時までとする。 (2) 検定料 30,000 円（出願期間中にインターネット出願（検定料の納入）サイトを通じて支払うこと。予

備審査合格者に出願サイトの利用方法を個別に案内する。） ※国費外国人留学生，中国政府派遣留学生及び総長奨励金留学生は，検定料の払込を要しない。 ※インターネット出願（検定料の納入）には，検定料のほかに５００円の事務手数料が必要となる。 ※既納の検定料は，次の場合を除き，いかなる場合があっても返還しない。

①検定料を払い込んだが出願しなかった（出願書類等を提出しなかった，または出願が受理されな

(1) 試験期間：令和２年１０月１６日（金）から令和２年１１月１３日（金）まで (2) 試験内容：メールインタビュー及びスカイプ等を用いた面談

※ スカイプ等を用いた面談では，本学院が指定する時間に，パワーポイント等を用いて，これまで

の研究内容と，入学後の本課程で行いたい研究計画について発表すること。その際，音声・画像と

もに良好な状況で通信可能な環境を確保すること。 ８．合格者発表

令和２年１１月２６日（木）午後４時（予定）本人宛通知書を発送する。電話・メールによる合否の問

い合わせには応じない。

９．入学料及び授業料について

(1) 入学料：282,000円

(2) 授業料：前期分 267,900円（年額 535,800 円）

注）上記の金額は予定額であり，入学時及び在学時に改定が行われた場合には改定時から新たな金

額が適用される。

10．個人情報の取扱いについて

・本学では，出願書類に記載されている氏名，住所その他の個人情報は，入学者選抜及び合格発表並び

に入学手続きを行うために利用する。また，同個人情報は，合格者のみ入学後の教務関係（学籍，修

学指導等），学生支援関係（健康管理，奨学金申請等），授業料等に関する業務を行うために利用す

用いた面談によって審査される。
