◆ Educational Philosophy of the Graduate School of Global Food Resources ◆

The Graduate School of Global Food Resources is tasked with growing international leaders who can understand, offer and realize specific solutions for the diversified, multi-layered food resource problems faced by the world. The aim of the graduate school is therefore to develop experts with a wide-ranging knowledge that enables them to understand global food resource problems from a comprehensive perspective, as well as practical expertise in solving these problems, through advanced, interdisciplinary and comprehensive education that integrates the humanities and sciences.

◆ Admission Policy ◆

Under the four basic principles of Hokkaido University, namely, Frontier Spirit, Global Perspectives, All-round Education and Practical Learning, the Graduate School of Global Food Resources is awaiting applications from students who: • wish to acquire both broad perspectives on a global scale as well as a deep understanding of local regions. • are aware of the importance of food, water, and land resources necessary for a 21st century survival strategy. • are noble of spirit and can forfeit personal gain for the sake of making a contribution to human society.

We particularly wish the following students to apply: 1. Those with a desire to comprehend and solve problems from both humanitarian and scientific perspectives. 2. Those who wish to receive practical hands-on education both in domestic and international settings. 3. Those who are eager to search for, discover, solve, recommend and examine problems themselves. 4. Those with a pioneering spirit and desire to succeed in a global society. 5. Those with the determination to develop communication skills, teamwork skills, and the ability to take action. 6. Those who seek diverse and practical job opportunities not limited to academic research.
