The Master program MA IEPP is designed for stu-
dents in Political Science, Social Sciences and Eco-
nomics who are interested in an interdisciplinary
analysis of the interplay between politics and eco-
nomics in an international context. Taking this
interdependence seriously, the programme inves-
tigates effective and legitimate ways of governance
and economic development in the 21st century.
Graduates are prepared for career paths in the
public and private sectors. The research orienta-
tion of the program also qualifies students for a
PhD programme.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
EDUCATIONAL ORGANISATION
The Master program “International Economics and
Public Policy" is a two-year full-time programme
consisting of 10 modules taught in English. In their
first semester, students attend the following three
modules: "Economics" (lectures on advanced mi-
cro- and macroeconomics), "Econometrics" and
"Economic Policy-Making". In the second and third
semester, students attend modules in "Economic
Governance in Europe", "Economic Policies",
"Global Governance", "International Economics",
"Energy, Climate and Environment" and "East
Asian Political Economy". In the fourth semester,
students complete the programme with their Mas-
ter thesis.

The Master program “International Economics and
Public Policy” is an interdisciplinary program jointly
run by the Political Science and Economics Depart-
ments of the University of Trier.
The program combines application and research
oriented courses. Students are trained to get an in-
depth understanding of current topics and re-
search in comparative and international political
economy by using qualitative and quantitative ad-
vanced social science research methods. Students
can choose among a wide range of topics related
to e.g. problems of international economics, gov-
ernance of the European Union or current devel-
opments in Asia.
