1.1 About this Document

Purpose

This Master Guide is the central starting point for the technical implementation of SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities. You can find cross-scenario implementation information as well as scenario-specific information in this guide.

Import the Support Package or implement the correction instructions. You must also implement the corrections contained in the related SAP note 1390960 for the IS-U system.

1390667 C&I profiles: Specifying repository during the import

You are importing profiles. The repository cannot be defined during the import from CSV files. It is indirectly determined using the interval length ID. A distinction is only made between EDM and CRM.

1409648 You may not be able to read IS-U profiles

You may not be able to read the IS-U profiles. The system displays an empty profiles overview page or an exception occurs. The system may display incorrect profiles for the point of delivery.

1411601 Improving performance for IS-U profiles (PoD lock)

System performance is poor when points of delivery (PoDs) are locked for IS-U profiles.

1418648 Cannot save or assign EDM profiles in CRM system

You cannot save an EDM profile or assign the IS-U EDM profile to a point of delivery in the CRM system.

This is due to difference between CRM and EDM system in the customizing settings for profiles.

2 Overview In utility industry, pricing process for Commercial & Industrial (C & I) customers differs greatly compared to that for residential customers. A typical C & I customer has large energy consumption, large number of sites, a complex business process and high revenue potential. In contrast to mass market residential customers, C & I customers are characterized by individual negotiated prices and products. So a quotation making process for a C & I customer is a complex and time consuming exercise.

SAP has a generic solution for pricing in SAP CRM 7.0 for Utilities. SAP has provided an open interface to perform calculation and store the results directly in the quotation. Customer has option to use SAP standard pricing technique for calculating the results or maintain the result directly in the quotation. Using this open interface, a customer can plug his own custom calculation tool to CRM and create price version for the quotation. A typical quotation for a C & I customer contains large number of PoDs. Direct calculation of price value (using IPC) is not recommended for performance reasons.

A problem with the open interface is, only a small number of attributes of the relevant items of the quotation are available. If the customer requires additional information about the quotation (which is typically the case), special interfaces need to be built up to read the data. This is a cumbersome and time consuming activity. Integration of the external tools to SAP CRM is also crucial for real time data analysis.

SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities is an integrated application that is built on SAP CRM 7.0 for Utilities. This application uses underlying CRM system data and other SAP or non-SAP application data to calculate price values and arrive at pricing versions for quotations. This application leverages the open interface (by standard) and SAP standard pricing technique (using IPC) to provide a flexible, real time, and tightly coupled solution. Instead of doing calculation for the whole quotation in one step, the application simulates quotation scenarios by taking each item into consideration for faster calculation.

Using this application, you can manually adjust and update a particular condition value to arrive at the desired cost or revenue price value. For large number of PODs, the application provides flexibility of calculation of prices in an off line mode.

The application is integrated with standard SAP CRM archiving process. So when the quotation is archived, the calculation data (generated by SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities) is also archived.

The application provided functionality and interface to interact with external applications. However, the implementation of external application integration is beyond the scope of the current document.

2.1 Integration Scenarios The application is built on SAP CRM 7.0 for Utilities. So SAP CRM 7.0 for Utilities is the basic minimum requirement for running the application.

SAP CRM 7.0 can be integrated with SAP for Utilities. The integration with other systems is beyond the scope of the current solution.

Core solution for SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities can be run with SAP CRM 7.0, without being integrated with other systems.

To determine appropriate prices in the processing of quotations, the pricing functionality is used. To carry out the pricing in SAP CRM, the system uses the Internet Pricing and Configurator (IPC). The IPC enables the integrated price calculation using condition technique. The SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities uses the condition technique via the IPC for pricing in order to determine relevant pricing information from condition records for quotation processing.

The availability of the following master data in the CRM system is a prerequisite for SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities:

Organizational management/organizational data and possibly organizational data determination

Master data for business partner (including business agreement)

Master data for products (services)

Master data for profiles (access to EDM system and/or within the CRM system)

Master data for the following technical objects:

o Connection object

o Premise

o Point of delivery with optional - though recommended profile assignment

The use of object sets of the category point of delivery set including the structuring via labels is optional.

2.1.1 Only SAP CRM 7.0 In SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities, energy purchase price is calculated using forecast profile or synthetic profile of PoDs and HPFC profile, which is related to an energy exchange. Similarly, total consumption is calculated from forecast or synthetic profile.

Profiles can have different storage location (for example. CRM or an external utilities system). HPFC profiles are created in other SAP or non SAP Energy Portfolio Management system. To run the application in a standalone SAP CRM 7.0, all the forecast or synthetic profiles need to be created in CRM system (storage location is CRM). Customer can build new custom logic for energy purchase price calculation as per the business requirement.

For performance reasons, it is recommended to use a dedicated Energy Data Management system for managing profiles.

2.1.2 SAP CRM 7.0 with SAP for Utilities This scenario is similar to that of standalone SAP CRM 7.0. The only difference is profiles of both CRM and Utilities system can be used.

The integration of SAP CRM 7.0 with SAP for Utilities is beyond the scope of the current document.

To get the correct HPFC profile (for purchase price calculation) customer can implement its own logic. A BAdI is provided to integrate an external utilities system. For more information, see BAdI implementations for purchase price calculation given below.

2.1.3 SAP CRM 7.0 with SAP for Utilities and ACS EPM 2.0 ACS EPM is built over SAP for Utilities. If the customer has implemented ACS EPM, HPFC profiles are available in SAP for Utilities system. For calculating energy purchase price, SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities provides a default implementation. So no new logic needs to be built for energy price calculation.

However, customer can build new custom logic for energy purchase price calculation as per the business requirement.

2.1.4 SAP CRM 7.0 with SAP for Utilities and SAP Energy Portfolio Management 6.04/ FPC This functionality is available with SP 3 for SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities.

SAP Energy Portfolio Management is built on SAP for Utilities. If the customer has implemented SAP Energy Portfolio Management, HPFC IDs and their profiles are available in the SAP for Utilities system. For calculating the energy purchase price, SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities provides a default implementation using the price forward curve (PFC) IDs defined in SAP Energy Portfolio Management.

The component FPC (Formula-based Price Calculation) of SAP Energy Portfolio Management can be used to define indices and price formulas. SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities is able to use indices and fully defined price formulas in the individual condition calculation. SAP Energy Portfolio Management does not need to be fully implemented to use FPC. One advantage of using FPC in addition to energy data management when using indices is the dependency on price key dates.

2.1.5 SAP CRM 7.0 with External EPM System This application can be integrated with an external Energy Portfolio Management system for reading HPFC profiles and calculating the energy purchase price.

A BAdI is provided to integrate external Utilities or EPM system. For more information about

2.2 Software Units Pricing calculation is triggered for the entire quotation at the header level. When the calculation is triggered, all the quotation information is sent to the Pricing and Costing for Utilities application. In the application, calculation can be carried out for the entire document (at header level) or at individual item level. User has the flexibility to pick and choose the items for which calculation can be done. After calculation is completed successfully, price versions are generated for the underlying quotation item.

The calculation process uses information from the quotation, such as, product information, business partner information, PoD details and so on. For flexibility and intelligent data gathering, interfaces have been built in the application to read relevant data from other external SAP or non SAP systems. For ease of use, standard implementations of these interfaces are provided for SAP for Utilities System. Price calculation is simulated using standard SAP pricing techniques.

The simulated value is displayed to the user by a web UI component. User has the flexibility of adjusting the condition values (as per the customization setting) to arrive at the desired cost/revenue values.

When a calculation process is started, new price versions are created for the quotation item. The item status is changed to In Calculation. After the user finishes adjusting the condition values and saves the calculation, the price version status is updated to Active. If the user cancels the calculation, the price version remains in In Active state.

For quotations with larger number of PoDs, the user has the flexibility to run the pricing calculation in an off line mode. After the off line processing is completed, user is intimated about the status using SAP CRM alert mechanism.

The application also stores the pricing output (from calculation process) for future reference.

The application is seamlessly integrated with the standard SAP CRM quotation archiving process. So when the quotation is archived, the pricing information is also archived.

2.4 System Landscape The core solution is built on SAP CRM 7.0. The application has the flexibility to read information from other SAP or non-SAP systems.

Customers can fetch information from other SAP or non-SAP systems that can be used for pricing calculation. The external system integration is beyond the scope of the current solution. Necessary interfaces are provided to read and integrate external data with calculation process.

For ease and convenience, default integration with SAP for Utilities system has been provided. See section 2.1 for various integration scenarios.

We strongly recommend that you use a minimal system landscape for test and demo purposes only. For performance, scalability, high availability, and security reasons, do not use a minimal system landscape as your production landscape.

3 Business Scenario: Energy Price and Cost Calculation for Utilities Overview

In this business scenario you will calculate and simulate energy prices and costs using SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities that is an add-on application to SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM).

This application is designed to enhance the sales process for commercial and industrial customers (C & I) within the SAP CRM industry-specific solution for Utilities. Therefore, this business scenario assumes key account managers of energy provider companies, who provide quotations for energy products to their customers, as the primary users of this application.

Under this business scenario, the following business processes are provided:

1. Calculating Prices and Costs for Single PoD

You can use this business process to calculate the energy prices and costs for a simple utility quotation (non-structured document) with one point of delivery (PoD) per item. This is so-called single calculation and it is typically used for managing comparatively small scale calculation scenario.

2. Calculating Prices and Costs for Multiple PoDs

You can use this business process to calculate the energy prices and costs for a structured utility quotation (structured document) with multiple points of delivery (PoDs) per item. This is so-called bundle calculation and it is typically used for managing large scale calculation scenario, such as for commercial and industrial customers.

3. Adjusting Background Calculation Results

You can use this business process to adjust the calculation result for a calculation which was executed in background. When a quotation contains a large number of PoDs, an online calculation can be time consuming or may cause a session timeout. Therefore, a background calculation is recommended.

4. Applying Tranche Calculation Model

You can use this business process to calculate the energy prices and costs for a quotation with taking the residual risk into account. This is so-called tranche calculation model and it enables to calculate the residual risk that is the risk of an energy supplier for purchasing energy which is not covered by the estimation.

5. Displaying Calculation Results

You can use this business process to display calculation results.

6. Resetting Calculations

You can use this business process to reset calculations in cases when you experience a problem like a system stuck during a calculation process or when you want to terminate a background calculation.

4 BW Data Extraction With Support Package 2 SAP provides business intelligence (BI) extractors for the SAP Pricing and Costing for Utilities application. The BI extractors provide access to the data from application tables that can be used for customer-specific reporting. Implementation Guide (IMG)

The Implementation Guide is a tool for configuring the SAP system to meet customer requirements. Its structure and documentation are component-oriented.

Security Guide

The Security Guide describes the settings for a medium security level and offers suggestions for raising security levels. A collective security guide is available for the SAP NetWeaver technologies like SAP Web Application Server (SAP Web AS). This document contains general guidelines and suggestions about system security. Other technologies and individual applications have a Security Guide of their own.

Implementation

Master Guide

The Master Guide is the starting point for implementing an SAP solution. It lists the required SAP components and third party applications that are required for each Business Scenario. It provides scenario-specific descriptions of preparation, execution, and follow-up of an implementation. It also offers references to other documents, such as Component Installation Guides and SAP Notes.

Component Installation Guide

The Component Installation Guide describes the technical implementation of an SAP component, taking into account the combinations of operating systems and databases. It does not describe any business-related configuration.

Configuration Documentation in SAP Solution Manager

SAP Solution Manager is a tool with various functions, one of its main functions being the configuration of SAP solutions and Business Scenarios. It contains IMG activities, transactions, and so on, as well as documentation. Instead of the configuration documentation in SAP Solution Manager, there may be separate Business Scenario Configuration Guides in the SAP Service Marketplace for earlier shipments of the Business Scenarios.

Production Operation

Solution Operation Guide

The Solution Operation Guide is the starting point for operating an SAP solution. The guide refers users to the tools and documentation that are needed to carry out various tasks, such as monitoring, backup/restore, master data maintenance, transports, and tests. It also refers users to other documents, for example the SAP Library, the Master Guide, and the Component Management Guides.

Upgrade

Upgrade Master Guide

The Upgrade Master Guide is the starting point for upgrading the Business Scenarios of an SAP solution. It provides scenario-specific descriptions of preparation, execution, and follow-up of an upgrade. It also refers to other documents, such as the Component Upgrade Guides and SAP Notes. Instead of an Upgrade Master Guide, there may be several Business Scenario Upgrade Guides or a Solution Upgrade Guide for earlier shipments of the Business Scenarios of an SAP solution.

Release Notes

Release notes are documents that contain short descriptions of new features or changes in an SAP component since the previous release. Release notes about ABAP developments enable the SAP system to generate delta and upgrade IMGs.
