1. Peg & Loren Andresen.: Peg and Loren have lived in their home for
over 40 years with most of the plants and landscape installed in the last 8
years. A brick pathway leads through the gated arbor to the small back yard.
Shade gardens and a variety of perennials and annuals surround the house
and garage providing color and texture throughout the seasons. A raised bed
on the patio is used for the vegetable garden. Old iron and street objects that
have been collected over the years are displayed throughout. Wild raspber-
ries and a redbud tree round out the landscape.
2. Julia & Larry Leonard: Nestled on a quiet, tree lined street in Camanche
is a stately Victorian styled home. This has been their resid ence 43 years .
Their home is surrounded by beautiful gardens with unusual perennials,
annuals and garden décor. A rustic garden shed with colorful window boxes
was built by Larry with barn boards from a century old barn. The back yard
features a brick patio with a pergola for afternoon tea. The wrap around
curtain draped front porch is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine with
friends and neighbors.
3. Linda Lampe & Denny Hall: Linda and Denny built their home in 2010
with a privacy fence for their three Labradors. The landscape includes
shade trees, ornamental fences and walkways. Several berms were added to
showcase plants along with artwork and birdfeeders. The gardens feature
unusual plants not found in the “Big Box Stores”. The hundreds of perenni-
als and annuals guarantee big splashes of color from spring through fall.
4. Joyce & Art Ollie: The small manicured front yard of Joyce and Art Ollie
is a little deceiving. Walking along the path on the north side of the house ,
you will be amazed by the hidden garden just ahead. As you walk under an
arbor covered with a climbing hydrangea, you will find a lovely garden of
perennials, unusual dwarf conifers and unique artwork. A waterfall tops off
this well planned garden which offers several cozy venues to sit and relax
with a cold glass of lemonade.
5. Linda Rayburn: The color scheme of annuals and perennials surrounding
this 1956 ranch house include shades of pink and blue. A flock of twelve
fun flamingos are scattered throughout the landscape. Flowering trees and
hydrangeas compliment containers of unusual annuals and succulents. Seat-
ing throughout the yard whispers“ come and sit awhile”.
6. Chris & Randy Meier: This yard features a var iety of landscapes. In
the large vegetable garden you will find tomatoes and sweet corn as well as
garlic and sweet potatoes. Fruit trees and berries round out the food-
producing landscape. The garden is bordered with spit rail fencing and per-
ennial beds. Mature oak, hickory and black cherry are scattered through the
yard, complemented by younger oaks, conifers and flowering trees all plant-
ed by Randy and Chris. All provide habitat and nesting for the birds they
love to watch. The native prairie was planted as a transition between the
mowed yard and the heavily timbered bluff above Little Mill Creek.
