Justification for Design Model
• Backwards approach – look at assessments (often mandated by district/state) and goals/standards first in order to ensure the lesson aligned with the standards assessment.
• Used ARCS model to analyze students and design instruction because it utilized the best strategies for instruction – it considered the learners’ mindset (Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, 1943).

Justification continued
• This model follows the ADDIE Framework and consists of all of the ADDIE components: – analysis of assessments, objectives, learners– development and design of instructional
materials and strategies– implementation of the plan– and evaluation and revision of the overall
plan.
