Greetings Fellow OLLI Members!

What a wonderfully busy time of year June is! For the farm family, of which you know I am from, we have planted the crops, the winter wheat is growing and the calves are getting big enough to be shown at the Fair. For the teacher in me, the summer has arrived and the stu-dents as well as teachers are looking forward to a break in the routine and hopefully some learning outside of class.

This June also brings an end to my term as your Chair and though it saddens me, I look back on my two years with you and I am very thankful. Through this position I was able to learn much about the many roles each of the OLLI committees have and all they do to make this a wonderful program. I was able to represent you at the National Convention and, as I mentioned be-fore, find out that YES, we are one of the best OLLI’s in the nation with much variety to offer our learners. I also am very thankful to you all for at the time I took this position my husband passed and you have filled a void by providing another “family” to keep my inter-ests and sometimes just help me get through the day.

I leave you in good hands with Steve Parkhurst as your new Chair. He has taught many classes here and definitely has a good focus on continued learning. I know he will be a wonderful Chair. I look forward to seeing all of you around campus, in classes and on trips as we continue this path of lifelong learning.

Thank you for letting me represent you as your Chair, Sue Zelinko, OLLI Advisory Board Chair

OLLI member Dolly Furland’s artwork will be shown in the OLLI class-room, C129 this summer. She began painting in oils followed by water based oils and then acrylics in the early 1960’s. Painting has been a major part of her life with many surprises and accidents between the paint, the brush and the canvas. She hopes you find one or two of her paintings inter-esting and enjoyable. Some of the paintings are for sale and you may con-tact Dolly for additional details at 392-2912.
