Post District Convention This year’s District Convention at the Ocean

Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch was extremely successful. The MAST Key Club won a

variety of awards: 1st Place Platinum Achievement for Single Service, 2nd Place

Single Service Award, 2nd Place Theme and Major Emphasis, 3rd Place Kiwanis Family

Relations, and International Distinguished Club. We achieved the Platinum Award and the Single Service Award for our work at PAR Garden and the Theme and Major Emphasis Award for our

Read to Lead program.-

Here’s what one Key Club member, freshman Carlee Dunn, had to say on her DCON

experience:

“If there’s one event a freshman- or anyone, for that matter- in Key Club should attend, it would undoubtedly be District Convention It provides an unadulterated look at what Key Club is really about. In its most basic form, DCON is a massive gathering of Key Clubs from all over New Jersey dedicated to having an amazingly enthusiastic service-based weekend.-

As a freshman, I had no idea what Key Club was actually about. But DCON thankfully changed that. It gets right to the club’s compassionate, community service-loving heart. At District Convention, you get to meet the students who are in charge of the New Jersey District as well as hear about what projects other clubs have taken on. You may even get to know some other Key Club members during one or both of the two late-night dances that take place during the convention. +

So break out your blazers and your heels. You’ll want to be a part of this!”

LTG Mallory Solazzo

From Our Lieutenant Governor It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the new Division 9

Lieutenant Governor for the 2016-2017 service year! My name is Mallory

Solazzo and I am currently a sophomore. I work as a liaison between our

school and eight other Key Clubs in Division 9.

I started Key Club at the beginning of my freshmen year and have

been an active member. I held the position of Freshmen Representative my

first year, which allowed me to witness all of the dedication and progressive

change that Key Club provides. Since then, my passion has continued to grow with each additional event, like

Fall Rally, Key Leader, and DCON. I made lasting friendships and learned valuable lessons that will stay with me

forever. Key Club has inspired me so much and I’m looking forward to having an active role.

In addition to Key Club, I am also involved in various other clubs. I am a member of our school’s Academic

Team, Drill Team, Technology Student Association, and Yearbook. I also am involved in Girl Scouts, where I am

working towards my Gold Award. Lastly, I play soccer and am a 2nd degree black belt in karate. I am looking

forward to working with our club further as your new Lieutenant Governor (LTG)!
