Massive use of fossil fuels

Fossil FuelsHumankind has been using fossil fuels for it’s needs, and as a result, has changed the atmosphere and the temperature of the planet, to the worst. The lands, air and oceans are polluted and we have made technology our first nature, if not our second. But why are fossil fuels so important and although we know they damage the planet why do we keep using them?

What are fossil fuels?Fossil fuels are fuels formed by natural processes of buried dead organisms, containing energy originating in ancient photosynthesis. The age of the organisms and their resulting fossil fuels is typically millions of years, that sometimes exceeds 650 million years. Fossil fuels contain high percentages of carbon and include petroleum, coal, and natural gas. Prime examples are coal, oil and natural gas.

Advantages and disadvantages

Fossil fuels can be used in order to produce great amounts of energy and generally we use energy produced by fossil fuels in our everyday lives such as driving our car, cooking on a stove etc.

Advantages and disadvantages

The use of fossil fuels raises serious environmental concerns. The seas, lakes and rivers are polluted by toxins and the air is polluted by the gas that comes out of the engines of vehicles.

Importance Fossil fuels are of great importance because they can be burned producing significant amounts of energy per unit mass. It is estimated that they provide up to 80 percent of the world's energy. Fossil fuels are also found in 96% of the items we use each day. A few of them are:Lipstick and mascara, sunglasses and eyeglasses, toilet seats, telephones and more.

TechnologyTechnology has developed over the years and we have become so accustomed to it that we use it nowadays to do actions that in previous years we could do all on our own.We have become addicted to it, and in consequence,we depend on it on a regular basis.Fossil fuels helped in the evolution of technology, so their importance is highlighted there as well.

BeliefsMany people believe that fossil fuels are helping the planet become better and are developing humanity as well. Others disagree though and are up against the use of fossil fuels and complain that we should care about the environment and our planet as a whole, instead of using them for our desires.

EvidenceEvidence shows that fossil fuels,although they are important, are also damaging the planet and us as well.Scientists estimate that in the future the use of fossil fuels will be even larger and the storage of fossil fuels will be required.It is also believed that other types of energy will be widely used as well, such as nuclearpower, which negatively affect the planet.

Solutions and alternative types of energy

As a solution to this problem, alternate fuels could be used more frequently and after a while we could use them in place of fossil fuels.We could also reduce the use of fossil fuels and try to use alternate fuels, but not completely stop using fossil fuels.That way, the planet would start to improve and we could go on with our eveyday lives without having to sacrifice something in return.

Solutions to technologyAs far as technology goes, we can’t exactly find a solution that can satisfy us the most.The only way possible is that we could spend some time with our family or friends and have some quality time together instead of looking at monitors or screens.Socializing through communication face to face is a far more enjoyable and memorable experience than talking on the internet

In generalFossil fuels and technology are important to our lives, but they can also harm us without us even realizing it.That’s why we should always keep in mind that alternative ways do exist and we should sometimes follow them,instead of always doing the same thing.
